Cardiff City boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insists: 'I promise to be 100% loyal' whether Bluebirds stay up or not
Mar 16, 2014 By Terry Phillips

The Bluebirds boss is still upbeat about his team’s prospects of preserving their Premier status but insists he's going nowhere, whatever happens Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is staying at Cardiff City

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed he will be Cardiff City manager next season no matter what happens during their Premier League run-in.

Solskjaer’s Bluebirds have eight matches left to avoid relegation back down into the Championship, their plight worsening following Saturday’s last-gasp defeat to Everton.

While Cardiff lost, most of their leading rivals down at the bottom picked up precious points.

But Solskjaer is still upbeat about his team’s prospects of preserving their Premier status.

And he declared after the agonising, last-gasp Goodison Park setback he will still be Bluebirds boss in 2014-15, whatever division the team are playing in.

City owner Vincent Tan and chairman Mehmet Dalman believe Solskjaer is the man to bring sustained success to Cardiff and they have a solid rapport with the Manchester United legend.

“We each want to keep our place in the Premier League, but no matter what happens I will be here for the future. I can promise to be 100 per cent loyal,” said Solskjaer.

“Everybody knows that continuity is the key factor to success.

“I sensed a great buzz for Wales from the start. The people are fantastic.

“The passion in this part of Wales for Cardiff City to keep their place in the Premier League seems to be confirmed day after day,

“Commitment, loyalty and hard work are values I believe are important. I have never worked as hard in my whole career, but I knew that when I took the job.

“I want to earn respect through the football my team plays and commitment to the club.

“I can promise to be 100 per cent loyal.

“This is a major project and I am committed to it.

“Right at the moment, though, my whole focus is on doing everything possible to ensure Cardiff City are still in the Premier League next season.

“We have big challenges ahead, but we are ready for those.

“Nobody at Cardiff City doubts we can keep our place in the Premier League... and we have eight cup finals in which to achieve that.”

Good to hear somthing like this from OGS but If he thinks Tans going to loyal to him if we go down he is in for a surprise

Wouldn't be too inconceivable to see another Avram Grant situation and see him sacked in the touchline at the final whistle against Chelsea (if we were to go down)

Looks can be deceiving...and Malky was never Tan's man to start with, so no comparison on that front ;)

It's taken Ole two months to get us playing how he wants, and to be competitive in all our matches. If only we'd ditched Malky after the Palace defeat, who knows how many more points we coulda picked up in the past few weeks had Ole been here a little longer. We waited just a few weeks too long to make the change, in my opinion.

That said, I like where things are going under Ole. My only concern is whether his brand of football will be able to achieve much success at some of the more difficult grounds next season (if we go down). Let's face it, there's a lot of teams in the Championship set up almost specifically to stop the kind of free flowing football Ole wants to play. There's a reason Malky had us playing how we played last season from around November onwards.

But who knows, we might still be in the Premier League next season anyway!

Malky should have gone the same time as Moody....it was never gonna work after that.

This cab be said of many chairmen / owners. In fact loyalty is a rare commodity in football when it comes to players and managers these days.
