I think we probably need an extra 4-5 points to be safe. And I cant recall ever having failed to get 4-5 points from a set of 9 games ever in the Prem, cant see that starting now with Michu, Dyer, Chico, Pablo and Shelvey all to come back next week.

You are 4 points above sunderland in last relegation place who have 2 games in hand on you . 4 points off relegation places with 9 games left is a relegation fight .
we have a vastly superior goal difference meaning 5 points will needed to be gsined on us to overtake us, not 4. Sunderland are awful with one of those game in hand matches being Man City away. We are 11-1 for a reason.
If you need 4 points to be safe that means you think you need to get to 34 , that leaves us only needing 3 wins to be safe as well , I'll take that
we have the "extra point" of GD too remember. We have around a 20 goal advantage on many clubs below us. I think 35-36 points will see you safe. So you need 11 points from 8 games. Two of which are Chelsea and Liverpool.

Goal difference may not come into it .
You have 9 games
Everton away , arsenal away , hull away , newcastle away , Chelsea home , Southampton home . All very hard games which I don't think you will get anything from maybe a draw somewhere .
That leaves norwich home , villa home and sunderland away to gain your points . Two of them are fighting for survival so will be hard games .
You have a very awkward run in IMO

If you fail to get anything at Everton and arsenal then like I said you may well find yourselves bottom 3 due to the fixtures of teams around us . Then the nerves will come into play

Its not really though. We beat Everton then we are essentially safe only needing 1 or 2 points with 8 games remaining. Thats not a dogfight, thats mid table obscurity. Lose and we will still need only 1 win in 8.
If it comes down to the last 3 games and we are still needing a win then id agree. But needing 1 win in 9 is not a dogfight in my eyes.

If we do this , if we do that ! If you beat west brom yesterday " a very winnable game " you would have a better chance .
I think you need 7 points minimum . We need 11 to make sure of survival .

Your goal difference is decent at the moment , a lot can change in 9 games there a few teams not far off yours .

And if we go down that will "prove" if were were in one.
Monk is entitled to his opinion but it is one mans view against another, ive been associated with Swansea for about 5 times longer than he has, the fact he has been made interim manager doesnt make his opinion more valid than it was before.
I will continue to back my self, im usually not far off the mark.

I will tell you a little story.
When I was 16, I worked part time in Tesco's. It was Xmas time and my second week there - the manager of the store was telling us all to drive sales by work ethic in the morning meeting. He was very boastful that morning saying "yesterday a man came in and bought 250 cases of the £15 on offer Budweiser, so I sorted him out a pallet out the back and made the company £400 odd in seconds".
I took my gun, scanned the barcode and it said "margin -11%". So I spoke up and said to the manager who was accompanied by the GSM, "surely if we are losing 11% on each case and the offer is a "loss leader" to basically entice people through the door - in which profits are then made by other purchases... Then why the hell would you sell them all to one man who bought nothing else? You lost the company money not made the company money"
The GSM clapped his hands and said to the manager "see what I mean". From then on restrictions were put on sale items to customers.
The moral of the story is, dont let someones job title threaten your own thoughts.
the Swansea manager and the pundits are all wrong because you say your not in it at this moment in time and the table lies as well. Cardiff are obviously deep in the mire and will have to do better in the last quarter of the season than the previous three quarters which is extremely doubtful but were realistic about it. You are saying if we win this game and that game we'll be alright. the last two weeks when it's been suggested to you your not far away you have said but when we beat palace and then when we beat w.b.a. We should be o.k. They were winnable games against two teams below you and struggling for form and you were at home. You dropped points against both. Get real until you get those points your in the mix like most people recognise

But I wouldn't rule them out of the relegation battle just yet
