Worth a read mate. I'm not really into hooligan books, but I did enjoy reading Tony's book

I like an Original.

Read it twice when it first came out, good read tbf

I was never into fighting but Tony's account is about more than that - it's about the whole culture, music, clothes, attitude.. He captures the atmosphere of those days rather than just describing tedious scraps. Hooligan porn may not be your thing but worth a read as he writes well.

I read it and enjoyed it even though the 'Jacks' chapter was extremely biased but that has to be expected of course.Sold a lot of copies too and I'm surprised Lakey ain't been on to tell us how many.

Bovver by Chris Brown is well worth reading if you want to know what it was like in the seventies.

I echo this, I was at quite a number of rows Tony talks about but never the frontline sort, I got my hands dirty once or twice but violence wasnt really my thing. I was more into the culture of it all. Clothes, music, drugs, were all sub cultures of the 90's scene not just the actual violence.
From that perspective its a very good read, as Tony is obsessive when it comes to casual culture, almost to the point hes like a train spotter, or casual spotter.

If you know Lakey he is also a very witty guy and the black humour comes across in the book.
Daves a top guy also, and as you say it wasnt just talking about the violence, hes as obsessive as Tony when it comes to clothes, music.etc and also included in the book is how he helped shape the house scene in Cardiff in the late 80's / early 90's.
Marshys book, Soul Crew Seasiders, is probably the most violent book, but the original Soul Crew book, is definitely more about the culture and scene as a whole.

To stick with this criminal genre I'm trying to get a copy of "Mugging old ladies" and "Racist attacks for beginners." Any idea where I can obtain copies?
