And then there were Two

Sun Mar 09, 2014 9:13 pm

After 20 years a bluebird, Yesterday was a sad day for me.

Before Tan, my match day ritual was a good drink on the Canton mile with 7 or 8 of my fellow season ticket holder mates, going back well before CCS. Yesterday there was two of us left, just 2 have renewed, the rest have stopped. . All down to Tan and you all know the reasons why. All of my mates have given the same reasons, in fact they have been spending their time watching Wrexham, Newport, Barry, Partick Thistle and of course Wales. 2 or 3 have even used the money saved on a ST and away days etc on following Wales home and away and are loving it. The colours, the badge, the selfish non consulting and non compromising dictating buffon and all his actions have seen these great heartbroken cheated blue blooded fanatical long time proper fans reluctantly walk away.

I am on the edge, I was flat yesterday looking at the giant Malaysia signs and flags , instead of enjoying the much needed 3 points. Those of you who know me, will know I am vociferous, vocal, singing, bouncing , as mad with passion as Dai Hunt when the Bluebirds kick off the action. But its not our club and it doesn't feel like the Bluebirds. I have renewed for next season, but only just! and of our great old gang we are now 2, and a very grumpy 2!!! I can't imagine not supporting our team, but the buzz and magic has gone, i struggle to connect and identify with the way we have become thanks to one man.

He cares about the people of Malaysia and the far east more than he does about the people of Cardiff and surrounding areas. The red dragon in his shopping malls, thats what we are dealing with here. Would I be writing this if the season had been better? YES. I have felt it from the day of the rebrand and I haven't stopped piping up about the despair its caused me, as much as I loved the Man City and Swansea victories. Nothing we could have done would have stopped Tan, because they initially announced they did a rebrand u-turn due to negative feedback, but then went ahead and did it anyway. So much for people power, the guy doesn't care about us one bit. We piss him off remember in our 'Town'.

The ivory towers at CCS currently represent everything I hate about modern sport, yet we, the lifeblood of the club and its history can only sit back and take it, despite what the Jacks say about us accepting it, selling out and it wouldn't happen to them, thats rubbish, the guy came in with his dollars and vision and JUST DID IT. Would the club have welcomed him aboard if they knew his intentions? Who knows? I will be at the march, but he will just roll his eyes in the back of his head while stroking his pussycat with his leather gloves.

I am still there, I am still fighting my feelings, but my CCFC is dying. And its just not bloody fair.

LONG LIVE CCFC, LONG LIVE THE BLUEBIRD, LONG LIVE BLUE, No1 TEAM IN WALES :ayatollah:

Feel the same went from 4 to 2 two years ago and the pair of us have questioned our support of a club we struggled to identify with ever since.if we're not here we can't do anything about it except wait and hope. Why should a man with no previous knowledge or experience destroy something that takes up so much of my time and money but the only distraction that my wife and kids would ever tolerate.

And how many more have the same tale to tell, which means that loyal supporters who kept the club alive by paying hard earned money to watch poor basement football back in the day are leaving, to make way for glory hunters and plastics.

Fully agree. It is no longer the fans club.
For the first time ever, on Saturday, I sat in my seat, looked around, and was lost.
This was not my Cardiff.
I did shed a tear. Told my boy it wad something in my eye.

Until we get our club back it's my last season. :(

Out of five of us it is just myself that has renewed.

9 of us who sit together, there are 7 not renewing next season.

The problems started well before the rebrand though if people are totally honest.

Its been flat at the CCS from the very beginning.

And of course, no wonder the atmosphere or lack of, is constantly a topic for debate. It's because we have lost so many true passionate voices and those of us that are left are admitting that we are not as passionate or vocal as we were before Tan?

Out of my group of 12, who have been mates now for more than ten years, only 1 has renewed. I never thought it would come to this but it has and it's so sad. The reason is down purely and simply that these fans no longer feel that the Club is the same as the one they fell in love with and that's with us in the Prem!

Thanks for the read, well written :ayatollah:

Something that is getting lost is the friendships Cardiff used to strenghten before games & the banter that would carry on into the stadium.

I know a large mob of Cardiff fans who used to drink in the rompney castle(steve borleys pub now)and they would go to the home games in a 17 seater mini bus and a car load as well. They used to cram over 20 of them in the mini bus,but now only about 4 or 5 of them go to the games now.Don't think any of that original crowd drink in the pub anymore(very sad as they were a great bunch of lads).

I too have paid and have still committed to the next 3 seasons for the premier lounge for 8 season tickets. I have been a season ticket holder for many years.
But I am at the point that I am clinging on to my club by the finger nails.
I have probably only watched 7/8 home games all season because I am really struggling to identify with a club I have supported since 1967.. It was always Blue , always the bluebird and a Club, I was deeply passionate about .
Actually sounds stupid I know , but my first real Love.
I remember all the rubbish days of Halifax on a rainy Tuesday night amongst many others, and the glory days of beating Real Madrid,,, play off win against QPR, eddie 'Mays barmy army ,Frank Burrows and recently Super Malky.
But I can honestly say that I am at Tipping point . I understand the original posters feelings.
Please god let me get the love back for my Club , change us back to Blue. So I can really identify again with my beloved Bluebirds.

I wonder if they will still be able to call it the premier lounge if we are back in the championship?

Excellent post, I did a similar post giving my feelings in this thread viewtopic.php?f=2&t=137267

I have renewed, but only because of the price freeze to be honest. I will probably only get away membership the season after next unless Tan pushes off and we get our identity back.

If we go down, with the extra tier, and Tan stays with the colours and giant Malaysia flags, increased prices, and our historic vociferous followers all stopped going or quietened down, You will be correct. :sad7:
