How lucky were we to get Medel

Instead of Wanyama or Capoue.

Capoue was £9.5m but hasn't looked like it not featuring much for spurs and Wanyama cost £12.5m but again hasn't impressed me much for Southampton only starting half their games.

Medel is a class act and could be worth a few million quid more than we paid for him if he plays well in Brazil.

Exactly so malky signed Medel and caulker, and I guess Tan signed velikonja and cornelius

Medel is better than Canas but agree he is overpriced. Certainly miss him in our side though. Wanayma would have suited us more and its a shame that Malky didn't fork out that extra £1 million to be honest

Medel is a good player, at 5-6m a cracking signing, 7-8m a good singing and above an expensive signing. In fairness he has done what he was bought to do, just over priced on what we paid.

He isn't a bad signing but 12m could be spent better when you a promotion club

Not sure id say Canas was better as such - but hes certainly no worse.

Put it this way, if it was the other way around and you had Canas instead of Medel - i still think you would be 18th on pretty much the same points as you are now. To spend £11.5m on him is absurd.

We'll be luckier still if we can keep hold of him in the summer.

overspending is only a concern if you have a tight budget like we did I will follow Medel's career closely wherever he plays next season. Enjoy watching him play for us and thats all that matters

Yes I have watched Canas, and I'm sure someone put his stats up recently compared to Medel and they were better

It says it all that he felt Cardiff (relegation faves) was his favoured option.

It will also say it all what clubs come in for him if relegated.

Shame he won't be here next season. We'll miss him more than I think we realise

It was obvious to me how much we missed him against Hull. Hit on the counter time and time again with no centre midfielder in sight

Our best signing.. People don't realise the work he does.. Look at the hull and Southampton games.. Then look at the man city, spurs, jacks at home,Fulham away and home and many others where he has completely bossed the midfield. Yes he has been at fault for some goals but so has most of the squad. If he wasn't here we would already be relegated.. Captain and one of the talisman of a very good chile side who recently walked over England and only just got beat by Germany. With gary being one of the stand out players in those games. Put him in a top six side and you'd see his true qualities. He hasn't got the help or quality in this team. Hazard would struggle in our situation

Agree with this. When a club just promoted play 10 million plus for a player you'd expect more goals etc. however, don't let the stats tell the whole story. With Medel in our team we are far better going forward and defending.

He may not have many assists or goals but his positioning and break up play allows us to attack and other players to push further forward as he is so good defensively. Without him we have been very weak.
