' City fans have their say '

Friday 7th March 2014.

Malky Mackay was a popular manager at Cardiff City

This week our Head of Sport Paul Abbandonato disagreed with Match of the Day pundit Mark Lawrenson, who suggested Cardiff City would not be in their current desperate state had Malky Mackay been kept at the helm.

Our man Paul argued that whoever was in charge, Cardiff City were destined to be stuck into the depths of a relegation battle this season.

But many of you disagreed with him on Twitter, Facebook and our own site and our online poll showed 76% of you think the club would have been better off had Mackay stayed.

Here's what YOU told us:

On WalesOnline
Will Melhuish

“We might not have been any better off in terms of league position under Malky but at least we'd have gone down, as a team, fighting.

“Not the laughing stock our once great club has now become.”

Oliver Reed

“Why would anybody give "Lawro" credence ?

“If you believe him, we would had have us relegated by Christmas.

“If our boys needed any incentive over the next 10 days it should not come from Vincent Tan but from personal pride to prove these gits wrong.”

Brian Jenkins

“I agree with Mark Lawrenson.

“Malky`s team had more fight to them, he was a first class motivator.

“If Vincent Tan is trying to take credit for Cardiff going up then he has to take the blame for them going down.”

Robert Morgans

“Tan should have sorted it directly with Malky. then, at the end of the season make the decision.

“A very expensive lesson to Tan in not having patience.”

Alan Parker

“In my mind there is no question that we would be better off if Malky had stayed and Tan had not started interfering directly in football matters,

“If Tan thought that Malky and Moody overspent he should have spoken to them directly and expressed his dissatisfaction.

“This to me seems to me would have been the sensible way to deal with it and Malky would then have known where he stood.

“I really do believe that if he would have done this we would not be in this horrible mess.”

Nick Thatcher

“You could argue City struggled against Sunderland and Southampton because Tan started meddling.

“We were in a good position after the West Brom game.

“Now we look like going down. It's pretty obvious to me.”

Allen Brown

“Lawro is right but it matters not a jot.

“What's been done has been done and down we will go.

“We must learn by the massive errors that have been made and get it right next time.

“I really cant believe what a mess we have made of it all.”

On Facebook
Rich Clark

When Malky took us up we were relatively steady but now we look like a frightened rabbit trapped in the headlights.

“I can't see anything other than relegation .

“In Malky we trusted.”

Patrick Webb

“Tan made a big mistake sacking Malky.”

Ian John Ball

“It seems everybody else reckons we wouldn't be where we are now had Malky not been sacked.”

Paul Hammond

“Lawro is spot on.”

Dave Roderick

“It is impossible to say.”

Christopher Perham

“This whole red and blue thing has made the players lose control.

“We need to get back to the fans backing the manager.

“Forget about what Tan has done, we can still stay up.”

On Twitter
Guto Llewelyn

“We would be in a better position if Mackay had been allowed to do his job instead of having to deal with off-field rubbish.”

Ben Glaze

“We'd still get relegated, but not as quickly or hopelessly.”

Chris Collard

“They'd be in a better position

“With Ole in charge they dont look capable of beating any team its a total joke.

“Tan has made them laughing stock.”

:sleepy2: malky malky. The main reason malky was fired was because he was shit in the transfer market and wasted a boat full of money, not so much for his 11 men behind the ball tactics, which wouldn't of saved us in the end.

And referring to Chris collard, "they don't look like beating any team" even tho we have beaten Norwich, Newcastle and Bolton. Unlucky against a good spurs and villa team, what a joker what is he watching.

We wouldn't have went down with a fight under MM.

We were being defensive and hoping for things.

Under Ole we are going down going for games and trying to win a game not hoping.

Show no fight yet restricted Spurs to a limited number of shots at their home ground yet at ours they had 29, EMBARRASSING for a home side to concede that many.

Let go of the man who has rinsed this club dry

The Malky obsession that many fans still have 3 months after his sacking is unhealthy.

"First class motivator" What a load of nonsense. We only played really well (imo) against City and United. Which indicative of how poor Malky was as a motivator. If you can only get your sides fired up for the big games but not for the games where we have to win then there is something wrong with your man management skills.

Some saying we would have gone down with a fight. Again, a load of nonsense. We were conceding 2/3 goals every game while getting none ourselves and creating no chances. That tells me we were going down with a whimper if anything.

I can't wait until MM gets another job. Maybe our fans will move on then and hopefully the media will as well. But it wouldn't surprise me if some of our fans went and 'followed' Malky's new team with the way some of them speak about him.

Well, no one really know what would have happened. Why don`t ask the players how they feel?

Almost as embarrassing as your lack of respect of the most successful manager this club has had in many generations.

Solskjaer was brought in to replace Malky and improve on his performance. He's made it worse, as far as the stats go.

Undoubtedly, there will always be comparisons. Pointless really, as we should all get behind the current manager of CCFC.

I would agree ole was the wrong person for a relegation fight, but I dont agree with people getting.on his back. With a full pre season I have.no doubt we will bounce straight back up.
