Nearly a week after Cardiff City owner Vincent Tan created more headlines by addressing the struggling team and offering them a reported incentive to stay up, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has opened up on what happened.


Cardiff City boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reveals how Vincent Tan stood on a chair to rally his players.

One of the stories of the week has surrounded how the Bluebirds' megabucks Malaysian owner reportedly offered the struggling stars a £3.7m kitty to avoid the dreaded drop.

Today the Norwegian has spoken in more detail about exactly what happened after he invited Tan to a team meeting last Saturday night.

He said: “The players saw someone who wants this club to succeed.

“He did great stood up on that chair.

“Whether he offered money is neither here or there.

“He was there to support the team and show we are all in this together.

“He was there to rally everyone. It was a show of unity.”



But it has since been suggested that offering a bonus this late in the season is against Premier League rules but Solskjaer said: “The chairman has spoken to the Premier League and they know the situation.”

“In general, these players are playing because they love it.

“I want them to play like they are back on the playing fields, with no fear.

“I know the lads and they want to stay in the Premier League.”

some very selfish people who are in the minority ,most Cardiff city fans just want us to play good football and of course win

exactly all the money he has spend he obviously wants us to succeed all our fans are so fickle if they dont

I try to look at all situations on their merit and generally speaking our owner only wants the best for our club, he's upset some by some of his actions but weighing it all up I believe he's done more good than harm.

Of course OGS supported Tan, what manager who wants to keep his job wouldn't ? remember MM never said anything negative about the rebrand when he was manager but is that the case now.

The real issue here, in my opinion, is that Cardiff City Football Club in terms of media coverage is now more about what Tan is saying than about football and that simply cannot be right. In his interview today OGS spent more than half the time trying to answer questions about Tan and if our players were only interested in money.

Very very unheathly situation in my opinion and there is only one person to blame - and that's Tan.

Wez, after meeting Ole, it was great to meet such a great footballer and a genuine man, who I believe really cares about what he is doing. Pullis was never asked and its a shame, I honestly feel for Ole. If we go down, I wont be shouting for him to have the sack, even though I believe he is out of his depth at this moment in time.

In the Championship, he might do really well and he could rebuild from there.

The problem is those fans think they are the real fans. The same fans who say "they would be happy if we got relegated". That statement amazes me ! As you said real fans should never want their team to lose

I personally am unsure what would be the best for Cardiff City. Success on the pitch does mean Tan can erode further the clubs identity. That is how I feel at present, and its just wrong Tan has taken the enjoyment of pure football away. Couldn't give a monkeys about being proved right or wrong.

He wants us to become the Cardiff Dragons. Remember the next generation will not care so much about Cardiff playing in blue, also if we are floated on the Singapore stock exchange, it is likely most of the shareholders will be Asian & not interested in changing the club to its traditional blue, so we need that clown out now!
