Whoscored's ratings aren't particularly reliable imo.

Overall stats have odd weightings.

it says in the article that Andrew Taylor was the second worst left full back in the premier league with John being the worst. the article is a load of Sh1te .

That's not fair on Declan John, this is his first ever season in first team football and the fact that it's in the Premier League is amazing, not to mention that he's only 18... whoever decided this obviously didn't do much research.

Unfortunately if you forget age in this instance and just look at performance and we take our rose tinted glasses off, as he is a home grown player. I think the article is correct in the case of Declan We would love to be against a team with such a weak defending player ,who needs a good looking after by his center backs. Age should not be a issue, if you look at Luke Shaw at Southampton who is same age and same position.
I meet a couple of West Ham fans on holiday and they both picked him out as the worst player they have seen this season I am sorry to say

Declan John is not a LB the sooner the managers realise this the sooner the goal difference will get better. He's a left winger gets skinned to many times at LB. Age has fucall to do with it there are some sharp left backs younger than him.

I bet if you put those players together and told them they were voted the worst 11 in the league I bet they would be a bloody force to be reckoned with!

Whether it's his first season or not is irrelevant.

Re: TWO City Players Named in Worst Prem XI

I'd agree with it. John hasn't been that good but that is because he isn't a LB. Not sure whose idea it was to converting him to a LB but it was a silly idea.

Kim however has been dreadful.

John has been superb for me, doesn't dwell on the ball or make stupid passes across the back etc.

Confidence in going forward or beating a man is a bit shot but he is young and will learn.

I'd play john before taylor, fabio and ktc at the moment. He and super kev are our best fullbacks which is worrying in itself.

The article is about underperformed players ("flops") though, not the worst, John has had a brilliant season in my opinion considering his age and experience, and he's only going to get better.

Actually, the title is "Top flops: Who are Premier League's under-performers?"

To call Declan John a "flop" is ridiculous.

Performance ratings take into account PERFORMANCES not potential performances, rightly so too.

In terms of performances alone, forget age, forget experience, forget potential - just actual physical performances alone.... Name a worse one.

I cant.

He will be a decent championship defender in the future though a la Chris Gunter and maybe has potential to be reverted to his more natural attacking positions, but I havent seen him there to comment.

In terms of "under performing" surely there is a certain level of performance from premier league defenders, they are all marked in the same way. If John has the lowest rating, then my definition he is under performing.

Performances wise he has done nout wrong and kept a lot of people quiet.

I won't take your judgement seriously as you haven't watched him enough.

And don't give that tosh, their not basing it on under performing or level of performance, their just second guessing.

yet you have the worst or second worst defensive record in the league?

how do you know how much ive watched him? :D

so you are claiming to know how much these people watched him too?

He has that rating for a reason, they aren't guesses. There is a reason you are 1 point off bottom and upon relegation I cant see too many prem clubs wanting John in their starting 11 next season.... Can you?

Hasn't played every game for us and on top that how do you know they properly rated him? You don't, so stop making assumptions.

And yes I can, you are delusional if you don't think Prem clubs want him, we had a offer from Spurs, awkward.
