I know he's a topic of debate on here, or was when he was playing, but I think he deserves to at least be on the bench for games. It's so weird to not even see him in the line up, he hasn't even featured in the team since Norwich except as an untouched sub in the Hull game.
Just wondering if other people agree/disagree? Should whitts be playing more regularly?

Should be in the England squad

Yes, hes a game changer. Also one of if not the best crosser we have in the team, Whittingham hasn't been used right since Dave Jones.

Some time out of the team may not be the worst idea. Id have him on the bench over Cowie though.

Isn't the official line that he's injured?

You say he hasn't played since Norwich, he played 90 mins against the Jacks, well he was on the pitch for 90mins, player with great technique, but to slow for the premiership, on times it looks like he's running in concrete boots.

Witts has been found out this season like many of us said he would, and that is exactly the reason a bigger team has never come in for him.

he sees balls others dont, and is capable of playing those balls, he might not be a long term solution or an England player, but he is a mile better than kim and gunner.........Whitts is big big problem is if we are in a scrap, he looks as if he is un interested.....he isnt picked for that in the 1st place though

Well I think that it's difficult because he had a bad time after the split with Malky, certainly his first half of the season was better. I'd like to see him play more, I do rate him over Kim and Gunnarsson.

I'd agree he is better than Kim and Gunnar who have offered facall this season, way out of their depth. Ah wait sorry my bad Gunnar has scored 1 goal

Its criminal Cowie is getting on the bench ahead of him.

He was absolutely gash when we lost to championship Wigan at home and even worse when we lost 4-0 at home again against bloody Hull.....No fight or passion...
It was much better when we played them away and he wasn't even on the bench
Boooooooooooooo

I thought witts scored away to Hull?
Wed Mar 05, 2014 5:42 pm
Yes he did with a volley………..and dominated the midfield against them………..he may have gone off the boil and rightly so dropped, but what a servant to Cardiff City and we’ll need him again next year!!
Wed Mar 05, 2014 5:49 pm
Some players can get away without pace, but we don't have anything within a gazzillion miles of what's needed..players like Hudson and whitts will be punished for lack of pace only the top top players like pirlo get away with lacking pace..

Should be on a bench in Bute Park

He has never been the most consistent and fades badly towards the end of seasons. He started o.k. but legend or not if mutch is fit he gets the slot for me next to medel. He may still have a role this year and may be refreshed after his absence from the team

Good point about Mutch, absolutely agree, but then why not play Whitts as a more attacking forward or on the left wing and let him use his preferred foot?
Thu Mar 06, 2014 4:08 pm
I think malky playing him too far back picking the ball off defenders hasn't helped him. I don't think he's a winger either due to lack of pace so for me the best role is the attacking centre midfielder supporting the forwards, Which mutch has done well at this season. Just hope for his sake if given the chance he does well. Hasn't played that well for a while but didn't deserve the ironic cheers when subbed. Totally out of order

i would hope that a break would help whittingham get back on form,

There has never been any doubt about Peter Whittingham's ability or that he has excelled in long-term, committed service to the club. The issue when he is off form has always been about his mentality. Where other players are stronger-minded, Peter seems to let it affect him and it can be seen in his play. I don't know about the CCFC set up but if they have a dedicated team psychologist, there has been little effect on Peter or other players struggling in form. So, I suspect they don't. Perhaps it would be wise to take a leaf out of Liverpool and England's book and take the player's performance/confidence issues seriously by employing a psychologist. These days it's in all sport. Bringing in someone at this time of the season to address these issues with struggling players might be a big risk but it could just pay off.

Because he hasnt got pace and you need that in this division.
I am one of Whitts biggest fans but he cannot get away with playing left wing in this division.
