' Kevin Mcnaughton signs new contract '

Cardiff defender Kevin McNaughton has signed a new deal with the Premier League club, Sky sources understand.

The 31-year-old penned a new one-year contract with the Bluebirds last summer and has done enough to impress manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and win a renewal.

The versatile Scotland international was sent out on loan to Bolton in late September, and made 13 starts in the Sky Bet Championship, scoring against Charlton.

However, he returned to the Cardiff City Stadium at the start of 2014 and has made six appearances for Solskjaer's side in the league and FA Cup since then, adding to his two Capital One Cup outings at the start of the campaign.

McNaughton was a second-half substitute in the 3-0 defeat at Swansea on February 8 and has not featured in the four games since then.

Don't see the point of this tbh. Unless Ole isn't going to use Brayford next season then it is just adding to the wage bill.

I respect Kev - he is a legend in my eyes. But regardless of what division we're in next season we will have 6 full backs on the books, 7 if you count Connolly and 5 of them are right backs.

I think we should have let him go to Bolton permanently to he could play more.

Fabio, theophile, Bradford, Conally hopefully moved out next season and a new right back brought in with kev as back up.

Agree with you thomasblue he is definitely our best full back when it comes to defending. Not only that he's a real 100% er every game and will bust a gut for our club.

10 times better than Fabio. On par with KTC though who I do think is a decent player although he's been shakey lately
