....but is it a coincidence that the best performance for quite some time comes when the players have been offered millions of pounds to avoid relegation?
Was there a level of commitment on Sunday that was missing before they thought that they'd be in the money?

You have a point and it is something I thought when the story broke.
When you're at the bottom, taking thrashing week in week out, devoid of confidence it is no surprise that when you're offered huge bonuses if you stay up then the players will suddenly play better.
