A forum for all things Cardiff City

Cardiff City boss Ole Gunner Solskjaer is convinced that his three January signings from Norway will provide value for money.
Having inherited the Bluebirds reins shortly after the winter transfer window opened, Solskjaer wasted little time in returning to his homeland to bolster his ranks.
Around £3.5million was spent on the acquisition of Magnus Wolff Eikrem from Heerenveen and Molde duo Mats Moller Daehli and Jo Inge Berget.
Solskjaer appreciates that patience will be required as the trio adjust to life in the Premier League, but believes all three will prove their worth if given time in which to find their feet.
He told VG: "I brought the lads here because I know them from the past.
"I know their attitude and they will prove their quality in time. Of course, some have made a better impression than others.
"But I believe that people who have seen the matches have noticed that we have got some promising talents that will give us a boost."
Solskjaer also claims to have received the full backing of owner Vincent Tan in all of his dealings so far, with those in the boardroom not looking to interfere in squad affairs.
He added: "I deal with football matters.
"He is really keen to invest. He wants us to succeed. But he wants to know what we are doing.
"Things should be organised. He is involved in that organisation, but the decisions regarding football matters are, of course, mine.
"I have to prove that I am good enough, and I am confident that I am.
"This is a job based on results. We need to get results, that is what matters."

'promising talents', there is the confirmation that the club gave up on PL football next season in order to rebuild. Hope it was the correct decision

I believe we did have one eye on relegation with the signings.
My opinion i'm glad we didn't panic like Qpr did and still went down with some players on 100k plus a week..
Depends what the conversation was between Ole and Tan regarding going down and staying up..
I think although we have some decent players the squad as an whole needs a big shake up with some going and a few coming in and that could mean taking a step back to move forward..

If we were bottom by a country mile in January which we wasn't i could understand buying with the next season in a lower league in mind. Genuinely think ole thinks the signings will bolster our squad now, after all he needs 25 and i think wolf and dhaeli are good enough to be in a 25 man squad. As for berget haven't seen enough of him to make a call

True Jinks

damned if they gambled on proven talent at a huge cost, & damned for not really addressing the issues that got us where we are in the league

he did fetch in 4 for now..zaha,cala,fabio,jones.........love them or not 3 of the 4 are known names and of course Cala from seville.. i think the norweigans as well as maybe being for the future were also to have Ole players in the camp......to jump on board half way through a season you need a bit of familiarity around the place......your own men if you like..going into another mans house and taking over can be daunting.
