Top guy and I think he will help Palace beat the drop.

Yes, he really helped us by allowing us to pay a small fortune for his hip operation, then leave us for nothing to completely shaft us when we were getting close to being wound up every other week!

He was shite too, but fair play to him for slapping his head as everyone was walking out

So Ledley decided not to be sold to Stoke that January for 6mil?
No the club rejected it then let him go wen out of contract even though they knew he was going to go at the end of his contract anyway if we didn't go up our club are a great business.

You might narrow it down to its crudest description but loyalty is an admirable trait

Got no issue with anybody doing whatever they feel like. Hardly offensive is it.

I thought your fans were offended by shelvey doing it after such a disappointing shift.

I'm sure if we knew Ledley would not sign a new contract, we would have taken the 6 million from Stoke.

At the time the rumour was if we went up he stayed so took a gamble to keep him in January which backfired

They should of snapped the deal up straight away considering we needed the money but you can't really blame Ledley for it

I was unaware of that rumour. If true, I agree it was a massive mistake from us not cashing in. But I suppose if we took the money, the majority of is would have gone to clearing debts and we would have had very little of it left to bring in a suitable replacement.

If it pissed them off then they deserve to be wound up, well done Ledley.

Now maybe he should try and be better at football.

Sorry, but I've never understood the 'Ayatollah'.Is it aimed at us Jacks then? I saw Ledley do it yesterday and just thought he used to play for Cardiff and so what.It didn't offend or rile me at all.Shelvey doing the swimaway i can relate to as stupid as it was at the time but I've never understood the Ayatollah and how us jacks are meant to be offended by it or what it means.

I don't think even the Cardiff fans understand what it means. I can remember Bothroyd having an absolute mare for QPR against us a few seasons and all he could do was stand there and slap his head! Made him look a bigger tosser than if he'd sloped off in the way his performance merited. You're right, though. Why should I be offended or wound up by it?

3-0 would suggest the Swansea players were having an even bigger "mare'

I seem to have drawn a blank with my post.Does anyone know why it's meant to offend us and why players do it or is it as tepid as ' I used to play for Cardiff'?

It's an act taken on by Cardiff fans and one that the players past and present also do to show their links with the club.

I guess he did it to goad the fans who were goading him all game. Judging by the reaction on twitter, it worked a treat.

It's no more insulting than the swim away. :laughing6:

The difference is, the ayatollah is a general act, which is normally done at every game... I'm sure you don't do the swim away at every single match ! It's just a Cardiff "thing" and not based on our rivals.

Anyone who got wound up by Shelvey doing the swim away at the end of the derby is a bit daft. :laughing6: if only he had put as much effort into the actual game as he did trying to goad the City fans.

As for twitter, there were many who got all abusive and wound up by it. As I said, worked a treat.

Stupid post..........as usual!
By the way, why do you think some Cardiff fans consider Ledley to be a legend? Didn't he just run down his contract and leave for nothing at a time when you could have done with the money? Hardly the actions of a legend, is it?

Not at all.

Nope, the word legend is bandied about far too easily, but he's certainly a fondly remembered player, certainly in my mind. He did well for many years for his boyhood club & I certainly don't begrudge him the chance of him going to play champions league football.

Him running down his contract was a gamble by the club. He could have been sold, but he was kept as a gamble to try and get promotion. Win the final against Blackpool and it would have been worth the risk, sadly we didn't and he left.

No problems from me.

To further his career, surely you can't begrudge anyone to do that?
