Newcastle fined manager Alan Pardew STG100,000 ($A187,300) and gave him a formal warning for headbutting an opposition player in Saturday's game at Hull.
The 52-year-old Pardew clashed with Hull's David Meyler during his side's 4-1 win and later apologised for the sensational incident.
"Alan has accepted a formal warning from the club in relation to his behaviour today and also a club fine of 100,000," said a club statement.
Despite apologising. Pardew will still face a Football Association investigation.
Pardew appeared to take umbrage when Meyler pushed him to recover the ball as the hosts tried to get back into the game at 3-1 down during the second-half and the manager offered no protest when referee Kevin Friend sent him off.
Pardew, who has a history of explosive touchline bust-ups including a furious row with Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger during his time at West Ham, was quick to accept responsibility for his behaviour when he appeared before the media immediately after the match.
"It was a heat of the moment thing. I massively regret it and I will have to sit down from now on," Pardew said.
"I didn't mean to do anything aggressive. I did move my head forward and that's enough. I tried to push him away with my head and I shouldn't have done that.
"Of course I apologise. I represent a big club. It's a shame because it's taken the gloss off a terrific performance. My team were terrific and it's only myself who had a poor performance."
Despite his apology, the 52-year-old is likely to get a long touchline ban while bookmakers installed Pardew as the favourite to be the next top-flight manager sacked.
Hull manager Steve Bruce was keen to draw a line under the incident and said: "We accept Alan Pardew's apology. He has been big enough and brave enough to come out and apologise which is that you would expect. In the heat of the moment things happen but Alan has apologised.
"I can only be complimentary to David Meyler because of the way he reacted to it. He could have rolled around on the floor but he didn't."

Charlie Adam a bigger disgrace by far, IMHO
An out and out thug with the arrogance to think he did nothing wrong (on at least two occasions)
Not the first time, either, but at least Mark Hughes had the sense to take him off!

Its about time he had some retrosoective action for stamping, as you say not the first time

If I was Pardew, I'd be pissed off at getting shoved out of the way as well. However, there's a difference between telling someone to f**k off and sticking your head on their nose.
He can't realistically tell his players to behave themselves from now on, can he?

A huge fuss out of nothing. The pundits opinions on MOTD was comedy.

No one will regret the incident more than Alan Pardew himself when he woke up this morning. It is a shame this has happened when youngsters are watching this see this sort of thing. It is also easy for pundits like Alan Hansen sat in their comfortable chairs to criticise, but they have to tell it how it is.

Alan Pardew could be hit with a stadium ban by the FA for his actions in Newcastle United's 4-1 win against Hull City on Saturday.
The 52-year-old headbutted David Meyler and was sent off by referee Kevin Friend. He apologised for the incident after the match, while his club have fined him £100,000 and given him a formal warning.
On Sunday, FA chairman Greg Dyke also confirmed that English football's governing body would launch an investigation, and the result of that could be a lengthy stadium ban, The Mirror reports.
The Magpies boss could reportedly be banned from entering stadiums for at least five games, but the punishment could be extended.
The newspaper adds that the FA will receive Friend's report on Monday morning and charge Pardew with misconduct.

£100.000 I reckon thats enough he should not get punished twice. If he'd done that in the street he would of got a slap on the wrist. But lets be fare here the Hull player should not of barged into him whilst getting the ball either it was arrogant.
But again why do people pundits and the press want to destroy a person even if they have apologised and been fined.
Christ sakes Savage for example was a right tw*t as a player so how can he call for Pardew to be sacked ? Smacks of pot kettle black.
Mon Mar 03, 2014 9:54 pm
The player barged a manager out of the way, how can you say he is not to blame as well.
Mon Mar 03, 2014 10:00 pm
If he went to headbutt Comminges, he'd never get back up.

Agree with this. IMHO opinion the whole episode has been blown way out of proportion. Pardew has apologised to all concerned (and apparently that was accepted). He knows himself he was bang out of order, has shown great remorse and is £100k lighter in the pocket. I just hope Newcastle noted give the money to some worthwhile local charity
Once again, the pundits on MOTD show their 'bias' towards/against certain teams/individuals (Cardiff City fans and players know all about the dark side of that

) and that was shown again when not one of the 'blinkered' trio mentioned that Suarez had actually run towards the outstretched leg of the defender when gaining his penalty!
