VINCENT TAN = LIAR.................?

Sat Mar 01, 2014 12:33 pm

He stated on BBC that he has cleared all the debts, simple question then. Is this true, are we debt free..............?

All the debt is owed to just him, unless he said he has just written it off

Back to Blue....Tan out. He's a dictator and they always fall on their swords in the fullness of time. He's an evil cnut.

Don't talk rubbish. A dictator is Gadaffi, Polpot, Hitler and he is not of their kind in the slightest and don't talk rubbish of him being 'evil'. He's changed the colour and badge of a football club which he owns. Its his business and he has the right, with the amount of commitment and investment he's shown, to make decisions which he feels is in the best interests of the business. Business is very rarely a democracy, and people are using this title of dictator completely unjustly just because it creates the images of those people described earlier.

Who is actually paying for it though ? Because unless the debt he is racking up is changed to equity then it will be Cardiff City. Just a question do you really think it's smart expanding the stadium ? What fool in their right mind would expand a stadium when the club is far from established in the Premier League, we're in our first year in the top league in a relegation fight and he thinks it's clever to expand the stadium. There will be at least 10,000 empty seats next year, incredible decision.

On that argument then you have to ask what the point was in building a 27,000 seater stadium anyway when the club had far less at Ninian Park. Heck, why should any club ever intend to build a bigger stadium at any point in their history???? I CAN NOT BELIEVE people are giving Tan grief over expanding the stadium! Its showing investment and intent, we should be getting behind this not arguing about it, that's ridiculous! Let's see sense please!

Re: VINCENT TAN = LIAR.................?

Expanding at this point makes no sense really though does it, fair enough once we've had at least two successful campaigns and have consolidated ourselves firmly in the Premier League but at this stage is silly, there's ambition and then there's stupidity.

Its increasing the asset base of the club to make us more attractive for either a sale or further investment. Its adds to our capital value and becomes work that future owners don't need to complete etc. To me it makes perfect sense along the lines of improving the training facilities

Annis, not denying that, but these things take time.Just because it hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it won't. Be fair, he's delivered on everything else.

Fair enough I understand where your coming from but why right now ? what's the rush, surely the timing could be more sensible, more realistic, because at this rate we'll be playing in a half empty stadium, the man won't learn, how are we supposed to be successful and achieve these ambitions when everything is constantly up in the air ?

Because the plan was that it would be done whilst maintaining premier league status. However, that really doesn't mean it shouldn't go ahead. As I said, he's just improved our asset base, should we go down we have a bigger stadium that should we return to the Premier League we can accommodate more fans with out the expense at a later date.

I empathise with how you feel about the rebrand. But you can't let that cloud your judgement on everything else. We were talking here about whether he is a liar in terms of debt to equity. My point was that he hasn't gone back on anything else and has delivered on so much. Yes its important, but you can't call him a liar because it hasn't happened yet, the key word being YET!

A red face (excuse the pun) because they lost the fight over malky and simply poor league form.

Natmanred, its easy for Tan to loan us the money in order to extend the stadium or build new facilities with our money. Its all a loan at the moment. Doing all these things means nothing if he is not going to convert the debt to equity. He has missed his promised timescales for converting the debt so and until he makes good (if ever) on this promise then he will remain a tarnished figure.

He hasnt got the cash lying around to invest it so the banks give us the money and its secured against his assets.

Thats why a debt to equity swap makes the balance sheet look good but truth is its just moving money from your left pocket to your right.

Surely investing money means putting your own money into something, if you make a profit great mission accomplished but if you fail and make a loss then tough luck that's the risk your willing to take, that's your own decision. If he don't convert then it's still Cardiff City in the shit not Vincent Tan isn't it ?

That's exactly what I'm saying, so he's not investing anything is he, he's lending it. If it doesn't work out, Cardiff City will have to pay him the money he has lent the club. That's why we need him to convert surely ? To make us a debt free club, debt that we owe Tan ?

Re: VINCENT TAN = LIAR.................?

I dont 100% get it myself to be honest but basically either way as he owes nearly 100% he owes the money to himself so its not in his interest to let us go bust,

to use a more simpler analogy hes not borrowing money he cant afford to pay back, hes lending one of his business money from his own personal fortune
