CCST on the Tan interview

Fri Feb 28, 2014 10:16 am

Statement from Cardiff City Supporters' Trust following the interview with Vincent Tan carried on BBC TV and Radio today.

Tim Hartley, chair of Cardiff City Supporters’ Trust, said: "We are disappointed that Mr Tan has raised uncertainty about the future at a time when the team is fighting to retain Premier League status.

"Mr Tan talks about wanting to unite with fans. The first thing he could do to help towards achieving that would be to meet the Trust and Cardiff
City Supporters’ Club as was promised in December last year. Putting that meeting into the distant future is not acceptable and shows disrespect to supporters.

"While fans are grateful for the significant investment into Cardiff City, we don’t believe fans need to apologise for campaigning for a return to our traditional blue colours.

"We are concerned that Mr Tan has yet to decide whether to convert the debt owed to him into equity which is what fans were promised in no uncertain terms.

"This season should have been an exciting experience for fans after an absence of more than 50 years from the top flight but it has been soured by continuing off-the-field distractions.

"We would also like a firm commitment from Mr Tan that a Hull City-style change of name will not be countenanced by him at any time in the future.

"Once again, Mr Tan’s interview illustrates how important it is to have strong supporter involvement in football clubs as happens at Swansea City and many other clubs across Wales and England and in Europe in countries
like Germany.”

Unfortunately tan doesn't care about the trust or ccsc . They are seen just like everybody else as consumers ! Fact

He has pretty much given his answers to there questions anyway what do they expect to be different it would be a waste of time meeting him .

The only way to change his mind is a huge boycott of buying season tickets and merchandise . That would need probably 10k plus fans and that will never happen :(

Very good statement from the trust. The more people who join, the better leverage we have with that tyrant.

I wouldn't quite put it like that but I agree with your point, I've joined already

I've been mulling over the idea to join the trust for some time.
I have nor would I ever join BU or KCB simply because they have no correspondence with the club itself.

But the only thing that's been holding me back is the fact that I'm an exile.

Re: CCST on the Tan interview

Fri Feb 28, 2014 1:57 pm

I have said this before this fantasist does not care one iota about CCFC to him it is another burger franchise. So what are the fans options?
Keep attending in droves therein supporting his wharped sense of approval...for himself that is
Keep on the protests...meaningless to Tan
Keep moaning on and on ???
OR do as I suggested months ago leave the ground empty as per Dortmund years ago when they increased season ticket prices

I am afraid my suggestion will be ignored, if it were to happen it would be a huge blow to Tan's megolamania, empty stadiums look awful on telly. His ludricous suggestion of 90% backing would be shattered for the country to see.But this is as about as likely to happen as the Pope turning up to the ground on a Triumph motorcycle

Tan should meet with the Supporters club, to me they represent the fans more than the trust

Join in protests with racist signs and banners, racist chants? No thanks. Whilst CCST have remained quite laid back throughout the rebrand, the Trust speak to the club's representatives and remain updated. If they are to take part in protests they will do so on their terms and conduct a protest in the right manner. Whether it be in a display of colours or a march. This is the only way to protest and do it on the right terms, BU are racists

It is actually possible to chant, support the team (without throwing false claims arround) and create a great atmosphere
While still supporting blue!

A really good statement, I hope fans join the trust in droves! One organised voice for the majority of city fans would achieve far more than anyone so far.

Good on you Tim! We need to start upping the ante now :ayatollah:

Pointing out the left and right wing, might help to find a sensible midle way. A way to unite, and support the team.
Who in their right mind would want to buy this chaos? Witch player would want to play for a club who have more interest in
Colour than their own players, booing them i might add? A club identity i much more than colours and badges.

I joined the Trust some time ago - I don't expect it to change things tomorrow, but if enough supporters joined the Trust then that would give it better leverage.

As I say I'm not expecting change tomorrow, but joining the Trust is one small way I believe I can positively influence change in a direction I believe in - our colours, our fans voices heard etc.

If you don't want to get involved, that's fine, but why some of us supporters feel obliged to slag people off who are trying in their own time and without pay to improve things just beggars belief.

btw I am nothing in the Trust, just a member, so don't speak for the Trust.

Why don't the trust give members for the first year free membership to boost numbers to a level that would really make a difference ? Then charge from there on in ?

Re: CCST on the Tan interview

Excellent statement from the trust.

Tan's country of Malaysia have an ALL BLUE logo for Malaysia 2014, yet Tan still insists his ridiculous red rebrand is the way forward for us. BLUE Chelsea are cracking the far east because they are SUCCESSFUL. Colour has nothing to do with it! We are not a toy for Tan to play around with, some of us have reluctantly accepted the rebrand but I think the majority of us just want to watch OUR team, whatever the level!

Being a football supporter is all about heritage, local pride, history, identity. Football is about experiencing the lows to make the highs feel even more special. But do you know what I'm experiencing at the moment? Nothing! I'm not experiencing anything because the passion and emotional connection I once had for my local club isn't there anymore. Tan's taken that away from me and that's because the club he's turned us into is no longer the club I grew up falling in love with!

I was born a blue, I will live a blue and I will die a blue! Tan cannot buy me with his money and nothing Tan does will ever change the way I feel! I was happy we got promoted, but it didn't feel as special to me as it should have, how can any achievement feel special when you no longer feel part of your club? This has been my worst season ever, not because of the results, but because Tan's ruined our club even further!

I would rather us struggle as what we are - the Bluebirds in blue, than succeed as something we're not - a money churning Premiership/Vincent Tan red franchise. I like to think the majority of us Cardiff fans take pride in the traditions of our football club and us Cardiff fans think Tan has vandalised our club, taking away the things that made us fall in love with our club and made our club feel special to us.

Vincent Tan, you have done enough damage and you are not wanted here. Please get out of our club and take your fellow rats with you!

picked up a form from the Trust office which is open before home games outside along from gate 5 - sent in a cheque first off then set up a standing order for annual renewal. :ayatollah:
