Name Change: Where do you stand?

Thu Feb 27, 2014 6:45 pm

Vincent Tan is having an interview on football focus this weekend - doubtless the rebrand and possible name change will come up

I was once a reluctant red and then changed my views on the rebrand after Tans appauling handling of the Moody/Malky situation but I have always held the opinion however that a change in name makes it a completly different club altogether and one which i cannot identify with at all.

What are you're opinions on a change of name?

I would follow results but wouldn't go until it and the rebrand was reversed

Sorry mate, that's against the rules.

You have to make a public record of your intentions right now so we can dig them up and ridicule you for them if the occasion does happen :ayatollah:

Wouldn't be a club to support imo.

Re: Name Change: Where do you stand?

I disagree wth some of the reactions here regarding the intentions behind the thread

A name change is a real possibility - Tan has issued a statement earlier in the year saying a name change is not imminent but he did not rule it out in the future and congratulated Hulls owner on Hull's potential name change when being interviewed on Sky

My intention is not to scare monger or cause rumours - it is just to gauge peoples opinions on this matter as it is of interest - if you dont want to publicly declare you're opinion you can just tick a box on the poll

you say a name change is a real possibility - but is it? really?

Can't see it myself. Or Hull being allowed to either.

I would like to say that the FA would not allow it but I cant see how they could deny a request from a legal viewpoint as he owns the club

And there was no problem turning the Bluebirds Kit Red and adding a big dragon on the badge

I think the Hull name change will definatly happen, I hope not though and I hope Tan decides against proposing a change in name for us..

Is it correct that the FA will come to a decision post season over Hull?
Not sure if that is the case but if it is & rules in Hull's favour it will certainly set a president.

So you accepted the rebrand and because Tan sacked Moody and Malky you now hate the rebrand.

What the absolute f**k???

I didnt say because they got sacked.. I said it because of the way it was handled

I accepted the rebrand 'reluctantly' on the basis that Tan is a successful business man, he would improve the clubs image and invest money in the club and I as a person am not usually too adverse to change and I am fairly progressive in my opinions.

But the way Tan has handled the affairs of the club October/November was unproffesional and laughable and I realised that this was not a man I want leading my club -I no longer wanted his money, his influence or his rebrand because he represents everything that is wrong in football and I now have no reason to support or comply with his rebrand.

People can reach the same conclusion from different ways - im happy to admit i changed my mind because its a human thing to do and I never told anyone to think in a different way to me

So you changed your mind on Tan, that i understand totally. The way it came across to me was you changed your mind about the colour of the shirts

Yes I suppose so - I thought Tan was a gentleman and meant well for the club so I accepted the rebrand (never bought red mind)

But his actions and behaviour convinced me otherwise and then there was no case for me to support tans rebrand

If a name change was to happen, I'd severe all ties with the club.

Quite simply wouldn't be Cardiff City Football Club any more so I'd be out.

Have to agree, after forty plus years of following the city, that would be it for me too.Even my dad who has sixty plus years of support behind him,has said he would not support any name change, and would no longer attend.
