Ok , I would rather everyone in the in the home end be Cardiff fans. But I think IMO that there are a lot of fans that don't love the club , only love the recent success of the club. One lad I work with who I know doesn't give a shit about CCFC and he has a season ticket.

He's from England(not a problem) and has worked with me for 12 years now and he bought S/T before our loss to Blackpool in the P/O final. Hoping that we would get promoted. I asked him why didn't he go to Ninian Park ,his answer because of the shit football and rough ground.

I usually pass this guy in 109 canton but haven't seen him for a while so I asked him why doesn't he go anymore and he said he's only going to the Liverpool & Chelsea game and that's it for him.

There's people on Twitter in Cardiff shirts that when you look at their twitter they are also in united & arsenal shirts , so yeah I'd rather proper Cardiff fans but I know for success we must get these other fans in & hopefully turn them into Cardiff fans

My boy is 10, and I'm bringing him up a bluebird. We've had a season ticket for last 4years.However,growing up my grounding like other kids in area was not Cardiff city. I did go to 1 or two games at ninian park , but sadly it was not my first love. Hopefully my boy it will be different!!!!!

You can't have success without plastics, it's when the plastics try to dictate to the hardcore that you have issues.

E.g. plastic scousers and plastic mancs who have mocked me for years for following Cardiff now calling me a fake fan as I am boycotting. How I haven't been sacked is a mystery as I want to smash their heads through the window. :x

Also "new" fans with no love for the TRUE Cardiff City giving it large about the red when I know that as soon as we are relegated they will f.uck off to being a plastic again.

What I hate more than anything is new fans making bold statements about the colour the club should be playing in. Walking around with their red scarves, chest puffed out as if they are making a point.

I haven't been for as long as alot of people on here and I wouldn't dream of going to games in a colour that polarises the fans, I don't think I have the right yet.

I don't see how they can have such strong opinions and they've only been going for a few games.

The obsession with the term plastic on this site is nearly as common a theme as topics about the jacks. What the hell is a new fan. When i had only been going a couple of years i was more immersed in the club than i am now. granted a hell of a lot younger but i would have the pin badges on any merchandise I could afford. I wanted to know everything i could about the club. I just missed out on certain famous players and games but felt has if i had witnessed it first hand. We can't just assume fans who never went to ninian are any less a fan. Cue plastic responses

i love the smash their heads through windows bit........honestly, i know the feeling, and every club needs new fans..........but have you really had REDS giving it large........or are they just people whose opinions differ from yours?

A good friend of mine who has next to no interest in Cardiff or football at all has a ST. However unfortunately for him, his sons love it and drag him along every week. They have been going for 5-6 years so not plastics. His eldest is now 14 and next year he can go on his own with his mates and his younger brother rather than having his dad take him a long. He can't fecking wait!

I would say he has done his bit for this club for taking his two boys to the football despite having no interest in the game. He's a big Cardiff RFC fan so has missed a fair few big matches of theirs in his time . He is not a Cardiff fan but is more than welcome down the ground for giving the opportunity to his two sons to support their local side, perhaps they would have supported United or Liverpool if their dad had refused to take them.

In my opinion all fans are welcome, everyone has to start somewhere. We need to make sure that as many from Cardiff and the surrounding areas as possible are coming down the City to support us, rather than sat in front of their Sky TV watching Man Utd, Liverpool and so on. The Family Club of the Year awards we've picked up should be helpful in bringing more and more local families and kids down the ground!

Good post, and i thought about it driving for 8 hours today. Reminded me when i fell in love with a club and how it happened.
I was on my second or third training with a new club i had signed. Playing a small pass and move field on tempo training.
I used to be a goalie, and the only international in the club sent a high ball behind me. I run back and managed to tip the ball over, only to hear some old tossers clapping on the sideline. After the training session they invited me for a cup in the club house. They told me that was some save, and though it was one of the highest jumps they had ever seen. I knew they where having a piss, course the save wasn't that good. Explaining i shouldn't expect any favors any time soon, course the shooter was the king in the club. Then they started telling me they used to play for the club, and how they won the cup and league several times in the 20/30`s. They told about the derbys and the proud club history i was now being a part of. The old tossers really got to me and i felt a strong bond with that club ever since. I really didn't do that good either and left two years later. But i fell in love, built my confidence and learned a lot in that community. Soggy story i know, but something i thought about reading this thread and new supporters.. Keeping it simple and clean.
