Watch Hull's second goal against us...

He might not be the best ball-player in the world (to say the least) but I can guarantee you Ben Turner would have been putting his body on the line and just jumping in to block the shot from Jelavic.

Unlike Cala, who almost moved out of the way, and the goal would have been saved, no doubt.

I'm not sure what this obsession is with getting good passers into our defence, I still stand by the belief that defenders should be first and foremost, well... good defenders.

We need to accept the fact that we're not a stylish/passing side and start grinding out enough results to stay up, at least for our first season in the Premier League, then if Solskjaer keeps us up he has the whole summer to work on his own style once were established in this league.

Give me battlers like Ben Turner, Kevin McNaughton and Don Cowie over Juan Cala, Fabio and Wilfried Zaha, when you're in a relegation battle at least, any day of the week.

Turner gets too much criticism even from me I did, but his blocks, air work is usually really good! All that let's him down is his feet, he can't play with the ball and decides to hoof it! Apart from that I think hes done very well this season

and if you watch the rest of the game chief you will see Cala do that in plenty of places - can't remember who he tackled on our left in the first half but nearly put the Hull player in the stand, to a great cheer from us in the Ninian...and I like Turner.

From the little I've seen of him I rate Cala as a player, and looks like he cares to me.

I agree, people are too quick to blame Turner and his hoofball, so I suppose there wasn't one hoof during the game against Hull, or Wigan, which we both lost.... I hope the players don't read these forums....

No one is perfect but Cala really impressed me, The passes and even long balls (Not smash it as hard as you can towards the keeper) were better than our 'Creative players'. Turner is a great tackler but i'm afraid that's not enough in todays football.

It is a combination of Eikrem not doing a defensive sliding tackle and Cala not blocking the shot if I am not wrong. The finish in itself is great, fair play, but to allow him that opportunity is poor defensive work. The thing is that Eikrem was vital in the first season in Norway to secure Ole's first league championship, and is struggling with defensive lapses now. But he was important in the attacking phase to obtaining the 22-12 goal attempts against Hull.

When they style of Ole clicks it will be Cala, Eikrem, Dahlie with the inclusion of Mutch (who I certainly rate), Fabio, John, with Medel as a defensive anchor. Noone was a little bit wasteful in possession the last game in my opinion, but if he can vary between going inside and out right and be less wasteful he will get used to playing with the new style and do just great. When it comes to non goal scoring attacking players, It would be a mystery for me how one of the most clinical finisher I have seen as a player long term would struggle getting goals as a manager. He has for gods sake already been employed as a coach at Man U to improve goal scoring skills. I think he will find a way to solve the striker problems.

I think Ole could do well as a manager, well above average. I am a little bit skeptical to Ole when it comes to him being at the tactical level of the top managers like Mourihno and Guardiola. It is nothing suggesting he is a tactical genius. What he could do that is a little bit funny is to form a Cardiff side resembling Swansea in some ways (thinking about their possession play) and beat them as a team eventually :) . That would be funny... if he is given time to shape his team that is. Solskjaer is more political in a way than Sir Alex, less stubborn its seems, but has the same ambition to win. Tactically more naive, but who knows maybe experience would mould that. Onwards and forwards :) whatever the league we play in.

Can see where your coming from..

I guess it's 1 goal, we don't know Cala well ATM.

I said before the season, Turner would adjust and I guess I was right in some respect and he has been good.

Ole has a style he is trying to implement and it revolves around keeping it simple, composure, patience and good passing which Turner lacks.. I hope Ole can implement it into him.. he has done it less under Ole.

Turner is frustrating to watch on times, gives target men a lot of time on the ball and doesn't read the game well on times letting the ball bounce and let the striker bring it down so deep into our half. But you know when a player is breaking away with speed and he will go toe to toe and throw himself into a challenge/block. Times his challenges brilliantly, don't think I ever see him mistime a tackle badly.

Ball retention and possession is what we lack, there are times where I can't help but see Turners judgement when he hoofs it because movement in our squad is a myth, rarely see it. Campbell is the only one who always seems to make the effort from strikers and midfielders for us. Mutch sometimes looks for space and good with movement getting into the pockets and drifting onto the wings on times.

Turner gets a lot of unfair stick, in my eyes.

Cracking defender.

I would second that he looks useful to me.
