Do any players have a relegation release clause?

Mon Feb 24, 2014 3:50 pm

I've seen a few threads stating if we go down then we can sell the likes of caulker, medel etc for x amount of pounds and make a few quid in order to build a nice championship team. However, this is Cardiff city and that's too straight forward. I would expect these higher profile players to have a minimum relegation release clause of a few grand leaving us in the shut financially as that's the Cardiff city way. Anyone know if these clauses are in place and if we stand to make money on these transfers or piss it down the drain?

I can't see us making any profit but would have thought we could get £5m or £6m for caulker or Medel compared to the £8.5m and £9.5m we paid for them.

That could give us £11m to rebuild which is more than Malky spent to get us up.

In the case of Caulker, i read that Spurs get 50% of any sell on fee.

not sure..........its difficult to keep players if they wish to leave providing sensible offers appear, i dont see it selling out of desperation for the cash so long as Tan is here, more a case of allowing players to further their careers.......its almost certain the ones we will lose will be the better ones and the dead wood will be left.
