I'm beginning to question oles style of play. And what I mean is it seems he have adopted the Old Man U style of play, he likes to play with width from wide and get lots of crosses into the box but imo this is a dates style of play and it isnt working. Every time we put a cross in it just gets defended all the time and most of our chances seem to come from crosses into the box and it simply isn't getting us goals and not working at the moment.
When you watch the top teams like barcelona bayern arsenal for example they play around teams and you don't see them smashing crosses into the box all the time.

It's getting us nowhere. Every time we get into the opponents half everything is slowed down which gives the defence a chance to organise themselves.
Even if the crosses were fired in first time we'd have more of a chance of scoring.
And half the time the crosses are shite anyway

The style is ok but we need better quality in the team to play it.
For example if we went down I could see us coming back a lot stronger and with a style of play.
I think that was Malkys biggest problem, we didnt have a style of play, it was percentages and we soon got caught out and puts us in the mess we are now.
Our problem now is we have to many average players and not enough quality in the team and the key areas have never been sorted.

Noone will ofen cut back on himself and then again before crossing.....it needs to go 1st time more often to give Kenwynne and FC a bit of pace on the ball to work with.KJ in particular is a lump of a bloke,he gets there and once he has planted his foot the chance has gone..they are left static awaiting the floated ball..........poor

This, the thing we most lacked was that we had no experience as a club whatsoever in the Premier League. If we go down it gives Ole a chance to change the team to suit the way he wants to play. And then if we get promoted again we know what to expect and can prepare for it

There is a combination of too inexperienced players and players not at premiership level that makes this squad not ideal for premiership survival. I mean its ok to make Caulker captain, but if the back line is John (18), Caulker (22), Cala (24) and Fabio (23)...then it is a bit naive to expect solid Premier League teams not to find a way to beat them. Also at central midfield, when Medel (26) is injured, the likes of Mutch (22) and Eikrem (23) steps in. They are simply not experienced enough, (especially Eikrem) and a number of the more experienced players in the team are of Championship quality. Ole knows this and tried to bring in Taylor/Cowie last game as a response without much success. I don't know if the problem is easily solvable for the time being.
The next big problem is the lack of goalscorers in the squad. Campbell is fast, has great work rate but is otherwise not as refined technically or tactically compared to top strikers. Jones is good in the air, strong, has good pace but not so great work rate. Both are not likely/frequent goalscorers against good teams (better against weaker teams).
And despite 22-12 in goal attempts the result could very well end 0-4. Cardiff was unlucky that day..no doubt about that e.g. the first goal being a deflection. But if the match was to be played several times, Hull would still have the edge and win most of the time, main reasons being lack of experience/quality and lack of goalscorers in the Cardiff team. Overall possession, creativity and chance creation is a big step forward and good enough in my opinion. The new flair players brought in helps in that respect.
When talking about styles, it seems to me that Ole want to play with attacking fullbacks. And to get that to work, you need to dominate possession and have some kind of high pressure style. Also seems like he tries to play 4-4-1-1 rather than 4-4-2, Campbell had a role in between midfield and attack last game that was a little bit strange. So I think he is aware that 4-4-2 is viewed as largely outdated in the modern game, and wants 3 man near central midfield most of the time. He also recognize the need for experience and defensive minded players (hence bringing in Taylor/Cowie), and Medel out is definitely a blow for the time being.

Too much change, too soon is my verdict but we could suddenly start getting it and picking up points furiously soon, or just storm the Champ next season
Ole needs a full pre-season and summer to truly stamp his mark on the club.

games are not won soley by employing the right tactics as you need the right players. OGS thought we would be winning in fergie time on 4 - 3 thillers and be a hero. Didn't seem to comprehend we can't score a goal with the firepower at his disposal.
You also need two quality CM's to play the UTD tactics 4-4-2 successfully as most games they will be outnumbered in midfield.
The other 4-4-2 alternative was rejected by our fanbase. Pulis's teams lump it upfront so the midfield doesn't get moved out of position and are solid.

You are again going at this all wrong. Read crywolf post. By the way, only times its been aplyed is two homegames, and yes. Fans where shouting for two strikers..

I agree. But Ole said that Daehli is the sort of player who plays in between the lines. Having seen him I believe that he can but he seems to play mostly out wide and he doesn't have the pace to get around players. We need to get Daehli playing centrally, get him on the ball and sliding passes into feet inside the the box hopefully getting Campbell and Bellamy onto the end of them. That's the way to break down Premier League defences.
