We spent comparatively very little in the transfer window and pretty much all of our fans had every expectation that we would probably get relegated in our first season.
I feel it was because of this that our fans stuck with the team, we exceeded every expectation.
I'm sorry to say this but most (not all I know) of your fans seemed to have delusions of grandeur and think you had a God given right to be in the Premier League. Splashing £50mil in the summer only added to your expectations.
Maybe, if you were a little more humble in your expectations you'd have been pleasantly surprised?
In all honesty, I think you can still stay up. It's not like you're out of touch of survival... Surely that's all you can ask for in your first season?... to still be at least in the race for survival? Just a thought.

The point I was making was that the expectation running through your club from VT down has only served to hamper your progress.
Ps - The Europa league is certainly big enough for me... Beyond my wildest dreams to be playing teams (and holding our own) against the likes of Valencia and Napoli

but only a 50% take up of season ticket holders......and yes i see your point, but how can someone whose expectations were exceeded have a go at us?..i dont think any of us expected a top 10 finish, and what most are pissed about isnt entirely where we are in the league.....trust me..if you lose 3 on the bounce and relegation becomes more of an issue, planet swans will light up like a christmas tree, and Monk ..in the job for less than a month will be questioned

That maybe true, but our expectations have been raised over time by our unprecedented success. I personally am under no illusions and if (rather when) we do get relegated we can hold our heads up high as we have acquitted ourselves in an excellent light in the top league.
Yes, I do think we will get relegated, maybe this year, maybe not? The point is, I know how tough this league is and I don't think we have a God given right to stay in it...

You have a fair point about expectations.
This all stems from Tan I'm afraid. You need to remove this cancer from your club (or has operating become to dangerous?)

We were never going to take the Premiership by storm and we haven't (oddly enough!). I'd similarly take 17th again next year if we stay up, and let Ole just get on with it. Rome wasn't built in a day and I don't think two more transfer windows is enough for Ole to change things drastically (hens saying I'd take 17th next year too).
But providing he installs some pride and brings back some passion to the side while slowly bringing in his own players and style of play then that'll do for me.

players aren't good enough to play the style he wants is the simple answer. Add that to being as you say too lightweight in midfield (medel and mutch are a huge miss) and no chance of scoring goals then it doesn't look good.
but where there's a will there's a way, just hope they find it soon.

4-0 at home to Hull sounds pretty bad but you had the chances, you just didn't take them. Different game if you score first.
If your team clicks you might well go on a good run. String 2 to 3 results together and suddenly its all to play for.

I said at half time Saturday if we had swapped our front two with Hull's front two we'd have been 2 up at half time not the other way around. Long was immense running the channels and Jelavic is a poacher, plain and simple. Together they are potent even if they are not the star names some fans would want ideally.
