Not deflecting away from yesterdays result but we don not seem to have had the rub of the green this season. From the Chelsea 'non goal' to all the deflected goals that we have conceded. BUT the biggest disappointment for me has been the standard of refereeing in the Premiership.
There is no doubt that many of the refs do not seem to be up to a decent standard. There has been the distinct impression that the 'bigger teams' are being looked after by the refs whilst the 'small clubs' suffer. You look at some of the decisions this season and it does make you wonder on what criteria they award not award penalties. We have not had our fair share of luck when it comes to penalty decisions particularly when we are the only club without a penalty being awarded in our favour. Now we cannot all be wrong because in most cases the press and the TV commentators also point out that many have been blatant penalties. We have had 10-12 very good penalty appeals and not one awarded. How can so many refs get it wrong? why aren't the touch judges not making the calls?
If someone was to put together clips of all those incidents and send it to the FA/ Chair of the Referees Body then quite frankly I think that they would be embarrassed. Sometimes in sport you make your own luck but when there is so much money involved in relegation/promotion these decisions could have a huge financial impact.
