If we lose Saturday is it all over?

Fri Feb 21, 2014 8:03 am

From what I surmise from this forum, it goes something like this.

we NEED 3 points against an 'abysmal' West Ham
We NEED 3 points against a struggling Norwich City
IF we got 3 points against Swansea, we would of drag them into the mire with us. Swansea were bricking it
we NEED 3 points against Villa

Very disappointing results if truth be told. However, the consensus has been it is all Tan, Lim & Dalman's fault, nothing to do with tactics & bad signings apparently.

Echo journalists spouting off bollocks. Paul Abigtwatto (sommin like that) already claiming Woolf Eikrem is a more cultured player that a 50+ capped Chilean International. Steve Tucker as always not even attempting give the paper any credibility by not even bothering to consider the threat that Hull Tigers pose. Call me an egotist but someone has to do it!

I rate Hull Tigers above the Norwich side we turned over & a West Ham team lacking the fully fit Andy Carroll who shown us up.

Steve Bruce's signings were incredible in the summer & concentrated around beefing up the midfield area, something Mackay did not have the foresight to do. As a result it has been painful viewing for most of the season, Campbell feeding off scraps off corners being a good source of supply to him.

Steve Bruce was aware that his team needed more of a goal threat this winter and signed the workaholic Shane Long, alongside the highly rated Croatian Jelavic who lost his place at Everton. Steve Bruce showed shrewdness & awareness on how to stay in the Premier League with a considerably smaller budget than ours.

Who in their right mind wants to sign a 20 year-old player who has only played Danish football over Shane Long who is proven at this level. He was available in the summer too.

The history books do not not look kindly upon managers being given that transfer budget Mackay had & spending wisely at his first attempt. Europen clubs give there managers support but in the U.K this is seen as interference. It's my opinion Mackay was the right coach to keep us up & the boardroom did not have the intelligence to bring someone in to help with player recruitment this summer. We can consider Iain Moody & Malky Mackay being out-of-their depth somewhat. If the club needed to be ruthless, it was Moody who should of lost his job in the summer however much Mackay protested to bring someone in used to working with that budget.

How much influence did Moody have on the Crystal Palace signings this winter in fairness to him. Inspired by Tony Pulis & Moody?

We only signed one regular starter at his club & that was Juan Cala. Its simply not good enough. OGS specialised in signing non match fit substitutes of other clubs & Norwegians that will make little impact on 12 games of high intensity Premier League football.

For these reasons, I can't back Cardiff to win the match and especially with the injuries to key-players & a suspension to the man in form.

Sorry

Football is a strange game as we know anything can happen, keep the faith and it's not all over if we lose :ole:

If we lose to Hull City at home this Saturday, I feel the fans will start to lose all faith in Ole, win and everyone will start to believe.

Funny how one game can change everything so much.

Hull h
Spurs a
Fulham h
Everton a
Liverpool h
West Brom a

Palace h
Southampton a
Stoke h
Sunderland a
Newcastle a
Chelsea h

We need about 15 points from our games, they could come from any of the games but given our results to date Hull h, Fulham h, palace h and Stoke h look like the games we have to win to get there. We may end up losing these four and beating spurs, Everton, Liverpool and Chelsea but the downside to that is that we have given away three points to four relegation rivals. So they are probably must win and definitely don't lose.

I think we will win on Saturday, I think I will lose faith in staying up if we lose.

Every game from now until the end of the season will be "must win or we are down". Regardless if you win or not.

The thing is, when you find yourself saying that game after game - it often doesnt end well.

The Hull game is very important but it is not MUST WIN, by any stretch of the imagination.

That Sunderland match was the turning point IMHO, then thumped a week later by Southampton.
Thumped again by West Ham, games I believe would have seen us through....I think we are heading back to the championship.
I love the loyalty and the optimism from our fans and I Hope I'm wrong, but sometimes Hope is for Hopers.

As much as it is not all hinged on Saturdays game if we lose we are simply running out of games that are potentially winnable. My honest opinion is we are no better than any team other than probably fulham so far this season and as the saying goes the table does not lie. If the new boys gel starting on saturday this can be turned around. Just have to target the home games and aways at rivals. Keep the likes of mutch wrapped in cotton wool for these games

I agree 100% Sunderland was huge, we played well until last quarter and should have been out of sight. Last part of that game was Cardiff of old under Jones, deeper & deeper trying to defend a lead.
Can't agree about West Ham, thumped??
We don't have a great record in these "must wins" , we must start well and so must the crowd, hope Mutch is fit?
1-0 win Zaha! :ayatollah:
