Cardiff City captain Mark Hudson to miss rest of Premier League season with hamstring injury
20 Feb 2014

Cardiff City's club captain Mark Hudson has pulled up with a hamstring injury and has been ruled out for the rest of the Premier League season

Mark Hudson will miss the rest of Cardiff City's season

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has today confirmed Cardiff City club captain Mark Hudson will miss the rest of the season with a hamstring injury.

The centre back, who has only made six appearances this season, had been favoured by the new Bluebirds boss against Newcastle United, West Ham and Manchester United in the Premier League.

But Hudson has not been seen since his Old Trafford outing at the end of January and Solskjaer has now confirmed he will miss the entire relegation run-in.

He said: “Unfortunately Mark will be out for the rest of the season.

"He has had a very bad hamstring injury but we will get him back for next year.”

Gary Medel's injury is understood to be as bad as feared and the Chilean is thought to be at least two weeks from full training.

Another veteran defender who is faring slightly better at the moment is Kevin McNaughton, who has this week signed a new deal.

Solskjaer said of the Scot: “We have offered him another year. Kevin is a top professional. He’s a fantastic character to have in and around the place. He’s really impressed me with his football as well. He’s player you want in your dressing room.”

Well he said on Twitter he has a knee brace on, so god knows what it is, as I thought it was a calf thing originally.

Regardless, it would still be useful to have him as back up.. So it is a bit of a problem.

Cardiff City captain Mark Hudson has revealed that he will miss the remainder of the season with a hamstring injury.

The defender suffered the injury during his side's 2-0 defeat to Manchester United in January, but the severity of the problem has turned out to be worse than originally thought.

"Unfortunately, I am out for the rest of the season. The hamstring injury at Man U was worse than first thought," Hudson wrote on Twitter.

Cardiff take on Hull City in the Premier League this weekend, going into the match in 19th place in the table.

Makes you wonder if we'll ever see him in a city shirt again given his age.
