Hull only have 4 points from last 21

Wed Feb 19, 2014 4:25 pm

According to the latest email from the club.

It's in fact worse than that, since they beat Liverpool they have got 10 from the last 39 points. (City incidentally have 9 from the last 39)

That includes 3 versus a 10 men Sunderland for 85 minutes, 3 versus a Fulham side who they beat 6-0 and 4 draws.

2 sides in very poor form then - got to be a draw hasn't it  :?:

Im afraid that their signins in January means it isn`t as dark as it seems.

They paid 14mill for 2 great strikers who have delivered in 3 of 4 matches.

1-1 vs tottenham, 2-0 vs sunderland and 0-1 vs Soton after they strengthened the squad.

But i am positive if we can lock down Long and Jelavic.

Steve Tucker: Can Cardiff City drag Hull City into the Premier League relegation mire?
21 Feb 2014 00:01
Our football correspondent Steve Tucker takes a look at how a win for Cardiff City against Hull can give them real hope of Premier League survival

Cardiff City v Hull City, Saturday, 3pm

Football like life, is very much a matter of perception.

Tomorrow’s big clash in the Welsh capital is a case in point as Cardiff City entertain Hull City in a encounter with seismic significance at the less attractive end of the Premier League table.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men are struggling to keep their heads above choppy waters with this the first of what could prove a very dirty dozen final fixtures of the season for the capital club.

For all the negativity, though, City remain just two points from safety. Indeed, if they beat Steve Bruce’s men they would lie just a couple of points behind their visitors at close of play. And that is where that little matter of perception comes into the equation.

Last season the Bluebirds, under former boss Malky Mackay, stormed to the Championship title with time to spare.

On the final day the Bluebirds were the visitors at the KC Stadium as fingernails were nibbled by the home support until it finally emerged their side had indeed done just enough to finish runners-up and join Cardiff in the top flight.

That would seem, however, the last time Cardiff have held the upper hand over Hull since.

Popular wisdom has it that the Bluebirds have experienced a top-flight season of woe, turmoil and conflict.

I had this down as a win a week back, it's the Wigan game coupled with injuries to Medel, Mutch & Bellamy suspended I have had to take into account of. Also, they have a bloody good side with the new signings bring extra goal threat to the already decent team assembled in the summer. Steve Bruce is an excellent manager

Hull City face a good old fashioned relegation six-pointer and an FA Cup fifth round replay within three days this weekend.

That will be a big test for the small amount of resource Steve Bruce has available to him.

Thanks to some stupid agreement between the FA and Uefa that says they won’t broadcast live domestic games on Champions League nights – and the insistence of a terrestrial broadcaster that they get to show the game even though they’ve stuck it on a channel no-one watches - the cup replay with Brighton will take place on Monday night.

So 50 hours after trudging off the field at Cardiff, The Tigers will take to the field to try and ensure a very rare FA Cup quarter final appearance at home to Sunderland. And they wonder why Premier League clubs don’t prioritise the FA Cup?

Hull City had to suffer snide remarks last week as everyone took ‘made six changes for a cup tie’ as a sign of disrespect for the competition. The fact that three changes were enforced and a fourth was the return of our best goalkeeper to the side was ignored.

Unfortunately for the replay, there will have to be changes. Not only will at least eleven of the players have played two days earlier and three of those, defenders James Chester and Liam Rosenior and forward Sone Aluko, have just recovered from injuries while strikers Shane Long and Nikica Jelavic are cup-tied.
