Ruben Loftus-Creek

Wed Feb 19, 2014 2:29 pm

Just been talking to my colleague who went to the under 18's game last night, and he was raving about Chelsea's Ruben Loftus-Creek, stating he's a 6 foot 2 centre midfield power house who could play in any of the bottom half Premiership teams right now and he's like a cross of Xavi and Vieira! He's probably going a little over the top and I didn't see the game, but out of curiosity I did a Google search on him. I was amazed to see this article was top of the search list: http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/ ... 17-1793105

A 30k a week contract at 17? He must be some player! It's a credit the City under 18's can come up against opponents such as Loftus-Creek and come away with a creditable 2-0 defeat. Apparantly, Chelsea didn't look like a youth team. Their passing, touch, movement, power and maturity made them look like a senior team. It encourages me that our under 18's can compete with teams like this and they will only learn from this experience and become even better players. My colleague has heard the coaches think quite a few of them will be ready to step into the senior squad soon. The future is looking very bright indeed!

The problem they face though is that they wont make it into Chelsea's first team.

Loftus Cheek is his name, not creek.

I recommended him as a loan signing when we were in the championship or first year in Prem. he was 16 then, absolutely superb.

Apologies, I misheard my colleague and thought the Loftus-Cheek headline was a dig at him for being "cheeky" with his huge contract.

I just read an article about him playing in a friendly against Man City and matching Yaya Toure physically, resulting in Toure getting frustrated and kicking him off the park. He was getting compared to Ballack in that article, but my colleague thinks he's more like a physical Jack Wilshere with his touch, passing and movement.

I will be excited to see him play in the next couple of years to see if he's actually as good as my colleague is making him out to be.

More like Viera than Wilshire.

Is an animal for his age, true captain material too. Great range of passing, great physically, good leader, good in the air, can score too. I havent seen a british kid as good as him and I wanted him in my Swansea side when he was 15/16 years old. I think he would have slotted in well too.

He WILL be Englands best defensive midfield player for generations. No doubt what so ever.
