This may just be me but I feel medel slows play down way to much when we are in need of an attack he likes to hold the ball or give it backwards and Im not sure if anyone else has noticed this bit he seems to do a hand gestures to the players to when he has the ball to tell them to slow down, I believe we are certainly lacking any tempo going forward and medel has a big part in this but I do believe defensively he is fantastic. I just believe it isn't all hell that he is out maybe ole may play a more attacking player to allow for chances going forward who knows...

I think losing Mutch is alot worse.
Mutch in some games has been our only hope. Without him we look clueless in midfield.
We have enough threat on the wings now with Noone and Zaha, I say play cowie or gunnarsson in centre mid, then let the flair players free.

Totally agree.

You can't play Cowie in centre mid. That's the worst place to stick someone who never gets close enough to tackle anyone.

why o why can't people see that the quality of other team's midfield is vastly superior to ours. Medel is playing with Whitts as much as I love that guy. Kimbo, well i'll leave it there.
Ideally, we should of brought in 3 midfielders for the PL campaign. Medel was one of them. Mutch should of been the impact substitution or coming in for injured players & doing a fine job at that.
The obsession with wasting money on right-backs that weren't the priority, Cornelius fiasco etc. Luca Toni was on a free last summer and scores plenty of goals at Hellas Verona, you wanted a target-man then there he was, outside bet on travelling with Italy to Brazil WC.
£50 million budget was enough for 3 midfielders, 1 striker, 2 centre backs...spine of the team

Why? It's his natural position

Cowie is very disciplined and with his energy levels i think he could do good a job
in a holding midfield position as anyone else. He does not have Medels poise on the
ball he does not have Medels touch but if a player gets past Cowie then Cowie will
not stand and watch he will chase back. Cowie will surprise many

Summed up really nicely

Mutch is a superior player to Medel whose arse is licked so much on here because he has a fancy name and a reputation (For being a crybaby in my opinion but some see it as "hard").

We do need to be more attack minded, particularly down the middle.
We have now got the wide boys who stretch the opposition but we do need to create more in the centre and of course...................................................SHOOT

Cowie is never going to be a player who rip up trees or beats the entire defence on a mazy run. What he does do his work hard and doesn't give the ball away cheaply. Would rather see him in the centre which is clearly his better position than on the wing. Losing medel and mutch are massive blows. Medel was starting for me to live up to his status the last couple of games. Whilst as been already said mutch is our most attacking threat including our strikers

....and a few more balls like the one he put through for Whitts to score at Hull earlier in the season will do nicely
