Ex city player. We need a goal scorer. Bit of a tongue in cheek comment which obviously didnt register with you.

OMG! John Parkin was fast as a cheater, could move like a Turkish belly-dancer & was the model professional, i.e, museli for brekkie & not this coco-pops lark like they do down at the Swans

As fat as he was, he still ran onto a long through ball to outpace Gabor Gyepes when Preston beat us 6-0!

I forget which game but I still makes me laugh when Parkin trod on the ball and went tits over head with his shorts hanging halfway down his arse.

I'll have to get my season highlight DVD as it was was so funny. Seems like an age ago now. I always felt a bit sick when watching Butterfingers Bywater. He fucked-up more balls than a short-sighted circumcisionist.

The Dave Jones era. Jones did fantastic stabilising us as continuous challengers in the Championship. But the work Malky did in pretty much building his own squad from scratch to take us up and then keeping us above the relegation zone this season shows how far Malky has taken us. It's a shame it looks like all of Malky's good work is being undone by our clueless, egotistical owner who couldn't handle the fact Malky was way more popular than him. :(

Shows how bloody hard it is to be a manager though. Parkin scored a shed load of goals for preston but by the time he come to us he was as big as a shed.
We just cant seem to sign goal scorers anymore. Who last scored twenty plus league goals?

We signed Parkin in January and before joining us, he played against us for Preston in a lone striker role. He was class, his touch, holding up the ball, link play, I thought we got ourselves a steal for 100k, especially when he scored that screamer on his debut. Unfortunately, a player of Parkin's size needs regular games and when Bothroyd kept getting picked ahead of him, Parkin wasn't at the fitness levels with us that he was at Preston.

If bringing in a fringe player, I think the first thing to consider is the players natural fitness. If a player like Wayne Rooney for example signed for Barcelona, he would probably be a fringe player and if so, he wouldn't be the same player when called upon as with his build, he needs to play regularly to stay at his peak.

The last player to score 20 plus goals for us? I'm not sure anyone has since Chopra the first time he was with us in the 2006-2007 season to be honest?
