Why the term Dictator?

Tue Feb 18, 2014 11:08 am

Can someone explain in a logical manner why Tan is called a dictator? If it refers to the change of colour and badge it simply isn't true. TG brought up the idea of a rebrand which would mean that Vincent Tan would invest £100 million for players, stadium improvements, debt to equity, new training facilities etc. When the fans rose against the idea TG announced that the rebrand was on hold but Vincent Tan would not invest the money and would seek other investment. This caused an about turn from a lot of Cardiff fans (not all) who said they were happy to change badge and kit for the investment. This occurred and the rest is history. They even went back on getting rid of the Bluebird in consultation with the fans. Hardly the actions of a dictator.

Subsequently, and to our detriment Vincent Tan trusted the wrong people with his money (or the banks money) to purchase players. Hardly the actions of a dictator.

Due to the above Tan made the decision to sack Malky. The outpouring of support at Liverpool resulted in Tan making a U Turn and delaying his sacking only sacking him when it became obvious Malky had lost the dressing room by the insipid display against Southampton. Hardly the actions of a dictator.

I am curious where the dictator stuff has come from. I believe he is wrong to have changed the colour but he had his reasons and it was in consultation with the fans who preferred long term stability over the problems we could have faced had Vincent Tan sought extra investment which may or may not have been there and certainly wouldn't have helped build the side that won the Championship albeit in a dire manner.

There may well be stuff I have missed so please enlighten me.

He's making changes that the fans don't want. Therefore, he is a dictator.

Re: Why the term Dictator?

He is dictating the changes at the club, despite the fact that nobody wants that apart from him. No consultation, no fans meetings... Nothing.

Dictator.

Who cares what people call him. Im sure he doesnt.

If I was a billionaire you could call me anything you like and I would be reading these messageboards whilst wiping my arse with £50 notes and laughing.

Threatened to leave and leave the club in ruin if the fans didn't go with it.... Some consultation process. :laughing5:

I personally did not agree with the rebrand but he did change his mind upon seeing the majority of fans wanted it for the investment. That is true.

Consulted the fans.... :laughing5: MaccyDee you are seriously deluded.

He threatened to walk and leave the club in ruins if fans didn't back him and his horrific rebrand.

Some consultation. :laughing5: :laughing5:

Thats odd Barry, you always peddle the line "if I leave ill leave the club in good hands"

He changed his mind due to many fans emailing him, TG, the club, WOL.

Whether he would have stuck to his word and we stayed in blue is nothing but conjecture.

He said they would seek extra investment but wouldn't leave the club in a mess.

Nobody has answered why he is a dictator.

Is it because he has bought lots of players without consulting us?
Is it because he has spent lots on increasing the capacity without consulting us?
Is it because he is developing new training facilities without consulting us?
Is it because he developed a progressive ticketing system where a Cardiff fans can get a ticket for Premiership football for as little as £20 without consulting us?
Is it because he employed a high profile, in demand manager without consulting us?

That's the problem the people who hate Tan will use any argument to back themselves often contradictory. I personally feel he will change us back to blue and have heard that youth teams are playing in blue most of the team. Hope it's true.

He was quoted as saying that well after this initial statement. Just after the red scarf night against Brighton.

He threatened the club and it's supporters... Certainly isn't a consultation. :laughing5:

Read the articles it includes where TG said reluctantly as Cardiff fans who do not want the rebrand they will no longer pursue the rebrand and would seek further investment however they would not abandon the club.

Basically, I won't pump money in and rescue the club unless you agree... Hardly a f*cking consultation. Blackmail at its best. :laughing5: :laughing5:

Delusional.

Annis you cannot disagree that a majority of fans polled backed the rebrand. I stress I would prefer blue but people went for the money. I disagree it was blackmail a bribe maybe but not blackmail. Who has he got rid of?

When were fans "polled"?!

This gets funnier! :laughing5:

Barry, the WOL did a huge centre piece on how many emails they had off fans and such saying how they want Tan to go ahead as they wanted the money. Maybe polled is the wrong word but the majority of fans were willing to accept his terms. This has proven to be the case still with the lack of any backing of anti rebrand groups.

Like it or not, the fans spoke and got what they wanted.

Re: Why the term Dictator?

There was no poll then, as suggested by MaccyDee.

I certainly didn't get any consultation, nor did 99% of the other fans. It was either you go along with my ideas, or I leave and leave your club in grave danger.

Hardly a consultation.

You cant have it both ways Barry. You always use that term that he said he would leave the club in safe hands so the red or dead argument didnt count. Now you say we could have been in grave danger....which is it???

I've already answered this one for you Craig. :laughing6:

Tan's comments were made about "safe hands" during a BBC interview in February 2013.

Long after he had rebranded the club. At the time of the rebrand, he had said no such thing & therefore you cannot use that quote.

At the time of the rebrand, he threatened to take his investment elsewhere had we not gone all with his hideous rebrand. That is bribery/blackmail - not consultation of any sort.
