Team for hull

Mon Feb 17, 2014 11:25 pm

My team

Marshall
Fabio. Caulker. Cala. John

Gunnarson. Cowie

Zaha. Daehli. Noone

Campbell

Subs
Lewis
Turner
Catherine
Eikren
Mutch if fit
Bergeret
Jones

Play the chelsea way when they beat man city. Solid at the back with two mids sitting in front of back 4 with the three attacking midfielders showing loads of energy and switching at all times
I pick Campbell ahead of jones for energy

.....................MARSHALL................
THEO....CAULKER..CALA...JOHN
...............EIKREM...COWIE...........
ZAHA..............DAEHLI........NOONE
.......................JONES.....................

keeper and defence speaks for itself. I know some people would alter right back
iv put eikrem as the passer and cowie as the engine (dont under estimate cowies ball retention and movement)
zaha and noone on their correct wings, dont buy into this nonsense of playing on the right if u r left footed and vice versa
daehli has creativity through the middle then and will be unknown to hull.
finally, Campbell works harder than kenwyne and is overall better, but I just cant leave the big man out if we're going to be putting crosses in the box. I was comsidering kimbo because lets be honest, when hes in that preferred CENTRE attacking roll, he is dangerous as Yaya Toure found out.

Marshall
? Turner Caulker John
Cowie Eikrem
Zaha Mats Noone
Campbell

Hard to chose a RB considering they are all pretty poor and although Cala seems good it would be hard to drop Turner after his performance against Villa.

I'd go with this. For me, Fabio and KTC are a bit of a liability at right back. Super Kev is slower but he's experienced and a better defender IMO. I'd stick with Campbell playing just behind Jones as well - I think they need time to form a partnership.

As good a game Cala had, there is no way Turner will be dropped after a MOTM performance.

Re: Team for hull

The key to this game is simple, win the midfield battle.

Stop Huddlestone spraying it about and you've gone a long way to stopping Hull as an attacking force.

It's a tricky call with Medel, Mutch and Bellamy out as I'd have had them all in for this game. Similarly at the back it's all about experience for this game so I'd go with SuperKev and Turner for solidity although I would have no real worries if Cala was put in.

My team:

Marshall

SuperKev
Turner
Caulker
John

Cowie
Eikrem

Noone
Whitts
Zaha

Campbell

I resisted the temptation to play Jones from the start as it's so vital we keep it tight for that first half. If we're not getting enough going forward then I'd swap Jones for Whitts.

I hope cala an cowie play.

Cala looked desperate to win an showed a bit of passion against Wigan.

For all you Don Cowie haters out there he has now become a very imprtant player for us.one of the few players left in the squad who will run all day and close people down.
We need to stiffen the midfield up because we have lost Medal and Mutch, so id play Gunnerson and Cowie in there so that we always have one closing down in front of our back four.

posted this on another thread:

4-2-3-1 (4-5-1)

Marshall
Kev
Cala
Caulks
Taylor
Cowie
Gunnar
Zaha (unfortunately but play him on the right)
Daelhi buzzing off the CF
Noone (on the left)
Jones (hopefully Ole can get him up for it)

Not a fantastic 11 but Cowie & Gunnar at least will battle their hearts out. I would like Eikrem in the side but feel against Hull we need battlers which gives Cowie the nod. Unless you play Eikrem instead of Daelhi which would flood the middle - it's an option.

And I know many people dislike Taylor, but he is far more comfortable with the ball at his feet than KTC, Fabio and John in my opinion.

Game plan to boss central midfield so we can get wings/fullbacks going forward at the right moments . Hard to choose between Turner/Cala or Campbell/Jones I feel. Cala would be great if we dominate possession, he has been used as defensive midfielder on occasions in Sevilla because he is good at linking up play from defense to midfield. Campbell is great if pace and work rate is the key upfront, Jones is good in the air.

Going forward - with so many new players it could be wise to exploit relations already developed either here or from other clubs Examples being: Campbell/Jones (Sunderland), Eikrem/Daehlie (Man U + Molde), Cala/Medel (Sevilla), Zaha/Fabio (Man U), Mutch/Noone/Campbell (Cardiff).
