Ole Gunnar Solskjaer plans to fly his misfiring Cardiff City team to Abu Dhabi for winter break
In an attempt to get a full squad fit and firing, Bluebirds boss Solskjaer has revealed he's planning to jet his squad away to the Middle East after Saturday's home match with Hull.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will whisk his Cardiff City stars away from rain-sodden South Wales to the sun of Abu Dhabi in a bid to re-energise his team's Premier League survival bid.
Boss Solskjaer will jet off with his team following Saturday’s crunch Premier League clash with Hull for a 7,000-mile round trip to the heat of the Emirates to try and gear his men for the final push for safety.
With eight days between the visit of the Tigers and the trip to take-on top-four chasing Tottenham, Solskjaer has told Cardiff hierarchy he wants his players to benefit from the bonding and extra-training available in better conditions after seeing preparations hit at home by the recent storms.
And he will hope the sun will aid a speedy recovery for midfielder Gary Medel as the Norwegian keeps fingers crossed the Chile star’s hamstring tear is not as bad as first feared.
Medel limped off at half-time of City’s FA Cup defeat to Wigan last weekend and admitted on a social network site that he would be sidelined for “several weeks”, although added “I hope to recover as quickly as possible”.
Having helped the Football Association of Wales officially confirm the hosting of this August’s Uefa SuperCup final at Cardiff City Stadium, Solskjaer is still waiting on the full extent of the injury but is understood not be ruling out the influential 26-year-old of making a quick comeback if he can show signs of healing.
And that could see the £11m signing from Sevilla – who was pictured watching his former side in La Liga action against Valencia – available for the huge home game against Fulham on March 8, if not for the game at White Hart Lane a week earlier.
Solskjaer will be loathe to rush back Medel ahead of schedule but will be hopeful that the trip to Abu Dhabi can boost his chances of an early return while claiming his whole squad will feel the benefits of warm-weather training.
Speaking on the club’s website, Solksjaer said: “Conditions here haven’t been the best. The lads are in dire need of some energy from the sun and some good training because the pitches here have been difficult to train on. We’ve been travelling here, there and everywhere, using the stadium and two or three other training grounds. Just to have everyone together at the same place for two or three days will be good.”
Solskjaer’s former club Manchester United are among a handful of Premier League clubs to have recently headed to the Emirates for warm-weather training following the recent adverse weather.

Anything to help the team improve, i know its for training but a little break in some warm weather might help them clear their heads a bit

He should take the fans, they need the break...
tan missed a trick there......any supporter wearing a red scarf last Saturday qualifies to go in the raffle for. trip to the sun.......
or have we tried that one ?
there weren't many red scarves to be seen at the Wigan match.

Is it not free will to support whatever? Those of you who feel the old brand was better, Im all for you case, but why should you make other supporters/fans feel bad/unwanted for not sharing your point of view? They may love this club as much, although obviously not in the same way...
Hope the lads get some energy and look at the Hull game running now - this is a team Cardiff can beat if they find their weak spots - e.g. their RB is a bit too offensive and leaves open space....++

They don't like people having a different opinion to them

I was thinking since Ole has been Manager they have hardly had a dry day to train, the weather in South Wales makes it very difficult, maybe that affects our form at this time of the year.
That's a good idea, I hope the players get something from it and knuckle down to hard work

Perhaps he can leave half the fuckers over there!

You obviously weren't around when we had the "win a prize if you wear a red scarf" competition then ?
Joke went over your head. Sorry.

No one's questioning your freedom to collude and collaborate. It's your integrity that's in doubt

Dissagree, I am not against *you*, but I am not with you on this cause - as I do not have any connection back then.
I do understand your desire - but its annoying to listen to rants after rants derailing thread after thread - context is king IMHO.
Btw, If the joke went over my head, I will take it like a man
