This date in 1979 we were 20th out of 22 in the old 2nd division { whats now the championship }..

we had won 5 drawn 5 and lost 13...........19games to play.

we beat Orient 1 nil at home,no great shakes because they were crap too, 4 days later though, we went to Blackburn and won 4..1..............and off we went, now full of confidence we were transformed..
we won 11 drew 5 and only lost 3....
it can happen again.........football isnt just about skill..its about confidence as well

The headline in the local edition of the Mirror said Sunderland to go up today if they beat lowly Cardiff, they were not amused
