' MATS LOOKS TO IMPORTANT HULL CITY TEST '

PUBLISHED

We just need the belief and to take our chances and we will be fine"
Mats Møller Dæhli

Mats Møller Dæhli was naturally frustrated with Cardiff City’s fifth round FA Cup loss against holders Wigan Athletic on Saturday, but the teenager, having played his first ninety minutes for the Bluebirds is now looking to Saturday’s upcoming test against Hull City as a big chance to get on the winning trail.

“It was a disappointing result,” Mats said after the game. “We wanted to go through and now we just have to bounce back in the league and focus on staying up and we can do that.

“I think we played too slow against Wigan. We didn’t play quick enough. We created chances and they had three shots and scored two goals so we have to be clinical. It just wasn’t good enough.

“I thought we played well, but we have to take our chances at this level. If you don’t you get punished and that’s what happened. We had enough chances to win the game, but just didn’t take them and we have to work on that.

“You want to win every game you play and now we will focus on the league and doing well there. We just need the belief and to take our chances and we will be fine.

“We are determined to beat Hull and all the players know the job that needs to be done. The Hull game is massive now. We have five training sessions to work on stuff this weekend and kick on.”

Mats Moller Daehli loving life with Cardiff after rejecting Manchester United return
MUMMY’S boy Mats Moller Daehli turned down Manchester United to join Cardiff’s relegation battle.

The 18-year-old Norwegian wonder spent two seasons at Old Trafford before returning to Norway with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Molde.

However, when Solskjaer was appointed as Malky Mackay’s successor at Cardiff last month, Daehli was offered the chance of Premier League football.

It sparked immediate interest from United, who had written a buy-back clause into Daehli’s contract when he joined Molde on a two and a half year contract last July.
The baby-faced midfielder eventually signed for Cardiff in a deal worth almost £2.5m.

And he’s settling in to life in south Wales nicely – with his Mum!

“I like it here,” said Daehli, who was man of the match in Saturday’s FA Cup defeat against Wigan.

“I have just moved into an apartment with my Mum and I’m enjoying it - except for the rain!

“It’s a dream come true to play for Cardiff.”

Daehli joined United as a 15-year-old and but returned to Norway last summer in search of regular football.

He played under Solskjaer in United’s reserves and then at Molde where Solskjaer was a real hit.

Im sure it was his dream as a kid to play for Cardiff city..... More like his dream to play in the premier league

He did play well on Saturday but he does need to grow up and pass the ball sometimes. We have a ball hog in Zaha we don't need another one

Pass the ball? If anything he passes the ball too much from what I have seen.

Ole got the right attitude and he tells the players to go out and "express themselves". That's what Daehli does. Every time he runs at defenders they have no idea where he is going to go or what he is going to do. Every time I have seen the lad play, he has put opposition defenders on the back foot and they cannot contain him.

His ball control is brilliant, it sticks to his feet like glue at times!

If he fashions a chance for himself, why shouldn't he hit it? We don't want to pass the ball into the bloody net! It's good to see the boy having a pop at goal when the chance arises. If we stay up, the boy will play a HUGE part in it and will be one of the reasons why we have.
