Mutch too much - restructure needed

Our team is now heavily reliant on having Mutch at the centre of midfield, since he went off injured we have played a load of Crap. Without him we have to re-structure how we play.

We have to tighten up at the back so I'd try Cowie alongside Medel in the heart of the midfield to concentrate on winning the ball and giving it to the more attacking players who can do something with it. That combination hasn't been tried before and it could stiffen us up at the back. I'd also play McNaughton as he is at least a proper defender with Cala, Caulker (or even Turner for his tackling and tell him to give the ball to someone else alongside him every time he gets it) then Taylor or John on the other side.

Once the defence can defend solidly I'd use Zaha and Noone out wide and let them swap now and again so they don't have to keep cutting in, with Campbell up front and either Ekreime or Dahli or even Whitts in a more advanced role behind him to feed him with through balls rather than 'back to the defence' balls. We still have Bellers in reserve to inject a bit of urgency when needed and Jones if we need a bigger man up front to change it around.

If Kim ever gets on he has to use his still to go forward rather than back or sideways and with the players we've got we should attack the box more and we will definitely get some penalties.

I think we need to use the players we have in a way that suits their capabilities rather than forcing square pegs into round holes. When Mutch is back replace Cowie and we then have a driving presence in midfield that causes other teams problems.

Medel is injured.

Bollocks, we're doomed.

Not exactly everyone's favourite on here but I would give Gunnarson a few run outs in Medel's role, a hard working player we need in that role and I'm not fully convinced anyone except him has a chance of doing well in that role apart from him, Eikrem is a big risk in that role and we all know Whitts can't play there.

Still though I would play Cowie/Eikrem and Gunnarson together for now, and Dæhli/Whitts in front of them with Zaha and Noone on the wings.
