If we are relegated how do you see the future panning out

Sun Feb 16, 2014 9:57 am

If we are relegated from the Premier League this season what do you think will happen to our Club?

What do you see happening financially, with Tan, with Ole, with the fanbase?

Im not completely convinced the drop is garaunteed just yet, but anything less than victory against Hull and I thinl we will slip over the edge of hope.

I think Tan has invested alot and will throw one more pot of cash at the manager, a new manager, im guessing about 5 or 6 million, if we fail to come straight back up I see Tan cutting his losses and walking away leaving us in financial turmoil.

Cant beat a bit of doom and gloom on a sunday morning

I reckon we would go straight back up, we will lose some players, Medel and caulker for definite but we have a strong enough squad to bounce straight back. It took Bolton and West brom several attempts to become a regular prem team. If we do stay up I think we will stay up for a long time and become a regular miss table team

I think tan will give ole virtually an open cheque book (by championship standards) to get us straight back up, and personally i think ole has already brought in some players with the championship in mind.

In football terms we all know tan is an f*cking clown, but as a business man he supposedly is good,if we get relegated, the value of our club will drop dramatically,so him selling it would leave him being in a financial loss,so the only chance he has is to try and get us back to the prem, all ifs, butts and may bes though because we haven't been relegated

Lets cross that bridge when, or if, we come to it. Until we are mathematically relegated. For now, lets just all pull together to try and avoid the drop. After such an appalling season, just staying up would be some achievement.

Cloudy with a chance of promotion.
we dont have good enough strikers to go straight back up and that concerns me . We cant rely on campbell. and jones aint good enough

Ahh, the old master stroke of bringing in Championship standard players to play in The Premier League - it never fails to achieve its goal of relegation!

As for next season, it's quite clear that Tan will either keep arse raping our club for the parachute payments or get someone dull enough to pay him out.

We have a striker ready to join in the summer on a pre-contract agreement.

Given the players Cardiff brought in in January I'd say VT recognises that Cardiff may well go down and has given them probably the best squad going in that league (which judging by who looks to be going up will be very weak again next year).

Of our players, Caulker, Medel and maybe Mutch and Noone will likely go. Marshall is 50/50 obviously a quality keeper but just signed a new deal. McNaughton will probably go and Bellamy will retire. After that Smith should be released, we've heard Cowie will get a new deal and I'd assume Oshilaja will get a new deal. That would leave us with a Match day squad of

Marshall
Fabio Cala Turner John
Kim Eikrem Gunnarson Dæhli
Mason
Campbell

Lewis, KTC, Hudson, Whitts, Cowie, Bergret, Jones,

That's with no new signings and the fact the club probably recoup about £10-13million minimum on players lost.

Leaving an excess squad off
Moore
Brayford Connolly Nugent Oshilaja
Harris Kiss Ralls Taylor
Maynard Velikonja

So with no new signings we'd have a pretty decent squad maybe needing another winger and central midfield player and maybe a goalkeeper. Playing better football than we did under Malky with 30million more than QPR got for getting relegated a season in the championship might actually be enjoyable.

Everyone said last season was the season to get promoted given the financial reward compared to lat seasons relegated teams. Wigan have had Europe and two managers yet near the play offs, QPR doing well, 3rd with two games in hand, and Reading in the top 6. For me we have a stronger starting squad than any of those teams did, so with a budget around Malky's Championship winning team should be enough.

Also if Leicester, QPR and Reading go back up it could be a weaker league too.

This above .... Open cheque book and push on with rebranding and franchising plans whilst lining up the floatation of the Company in the Far East.

Very good post.

My fear is the manager. Is Ole premier quality? I personally feel Tan will use Ole to get us back up then dump him for a more senior guy.

I think some people half hope a relegation would halt the rebrand and/or give Tan a chance to rethink it. Personally from what we have heard Tan actually say I don't think anything could be further from the truth. He's a single minded man who has already blamed any wrong this season on Malky so he doesn't personally think he has done anything wrong. Rebrand still 100% in his mind.

Not sure about that, one thing is certain, if we are relegated the anti Tan crowd will grow alot, when the good times are over so to speak, Tan has had incredibly bad publicity here and in Malaysia this season, im sure a larger fan backlash would give him an excuse to pack his bags. One positive thing is surely the club is not really going to be appealing to new buyer in its current financial state if we go down, so debt to equity could still be on the cards to improve that situation.

Further investment and repayment of Tans loans. The Far East will feel they have " their own " football club.

We still have as much chance of staying up as those around us do . Do you think the others are not worried? I think if we go down Tan might just go. He could sell us off cheap and take a loss. Don't you ever think business men don't make f**k ups. Look at our banks they lost millions , Donald Trump, virgin cola , the list is endless.

The Far East have their own football club.

They only won't want a championship or lower one .

Firstly I believe we will be relegated and hopefully we won't have to face the ignominy of finishing bottom of the Premier League and, in my opinion, there is a real chance that we will. When it is confirmed perhaps that will be the time to debate the reasons behind our abject failure this season but and again, in my opinion, I will look no further than VT because from the moment he decided to press the self destruct button and sack Moody we have been on the downward slope.

Financially that will be down to VT and despite £18m in parachute payments I expect him to sell our most marketable players. Whatever that brings in will be used to offset the inevitable losses we will suffer next season. As for OGS I would expect him to last no more than 10 games into next season because VT will demand an immediate return to the PL and from what I've seen of OGS I don't think he is the man for a Championship promotion campaign.

The big question then is who on earth VT, and his lap dogs Dalman and Lim, will get to manage the team. My money would be on Dave Jones because he will be desperate for a job and would willingly be another addition to the growing list of VT yes men at the club.

I've seen successive relegations before and I really believe we are ripe for it.
