Reasons why expanding ground may help us

Sun Feb 16, 2014 9:51 am

Reasons why expanding the ground may help us in the future..............for the blue side TAN OUT CREW

- Makes us more attractive for potential buyers more seats equals more money
- Gives us a feel of a bigger club with bigger capacity again good selling point
- Move revenue for club
- Most prem clubs by 2016 will be 40,000-50,000 plus.
- Already paid for by Tan (or not)
- Attract other events music, internationals games etc
- Puts us further ahead of our main rivals Bristol city and Rovers :D :D :D

Also it will be a great advantage when the fair play rules kick in next season, that's of course if we are still in the premiership.

Are you serious? The only thing the expansion will give us is more empty seats, an even flatter atmosphere (if that's possible) and a large bill to pay / add to our debt mountain.

Rediculous decision when we're fighting the drop

Careful. I asked a simple question related similar 2 days ago , got about 2000 views and 100 replies to which all about two/three were worthy.

City One is correct and your list carries valid points. I was interested in " other events " but unfortunately the thread got derailed by shall we say uneducated thought out posts and those who would prefer to discuss the mighty Olympic stadium.

How is it a ridiculous ? I don't understand that comment.

Ok - I do understand that for football reasons especially in the Championship the extra seating won't be required.

Surely though under " all other events " sector they will be required and bring a greater revenue stream to Franchise King Tan ?

I am thinking of relocating to the new tier, it will be a great view up there. Season tickets will sell out for both the lower and new upper tier for next season, whether we are in the prem or championship :ayatollah:

I understand that the final budget/specification for the extension has not yet been confirmed. Implication is that if we go down, less money will be spent which will mean poorer specification - not full and shoddy a possibility!

Only in relation to behind the scenes corporate development. Super structure and the bowl will be as per plan any cuts in budget will not be noticed.

It was under 20k because that's all ninian park held. We would have sold a good 5-6 thousand more that night easily. Maybe more.

I think a 25K would be perfect sized stadium for the club overall. Maintains a good atmosphere not just for glamour ties

Clubs grow. We've gone from averages of 3,000 to 10,000 to 15,000 and now of over 20,000. Who's to say that in a few years we could be averaging 30,000. I'd rather have the option of having the space there than having no room at all.

A 25k seater stadium would leave thousands without tickets. There most likely will be empty seats next season but its like that with most clubs in the prem who have bigger stadiums. By not having a bigger stadium the club will be missing out on millions of pounds if promoted again. The atmosphere is crap anyway so who cares whether its bigger or smaller, maybe the change in shape to the stadium will add to the atmosphere, we will soon find out next season.

Thats true, businesses need to move with the times or get left behind. I suppose i'm nostalgic about the club's past, as the present is a bit grim tbh with the nonsense going on a board-level
