BEST 11

Sat Feb 15, 2014 9:53 pm

We live in hope. The odds are stacked heavilly against us staying up. It concerns me that OGS may not know his best 11 to give us a fighting chance of us staying up. Time is short and the time is now for OGS to nail his colours to tue mast - pick the best 11 to keep us up. Three things strike me (probably stating the bleeding obvious!).
1/ The need to defend properly. THEREFORE
Its vital to have a settled defensive unit. Pick em and stick with em. That said Cala may be worth risking as part of it. It appears he is a leader with experience - we been missing an organiser at the back.
2/ We need goals THEREFORE
Lets find a central midfield role for Daehli as our most creative and technically gifted player. Also although Zaha is a bit hit and miss I think he will get better and he is dangerous.also when he gives the ball away he does try to chase back and make ammends. Similarly where practical Noone and Mutch should play.
3/ We need fighters - its a dogfight. For that reasons we want 100 percenters. THEREFORE (although I am not his greatest fan) Medel is in. On the other hand Whittingham does not make the 11 (bench at best).

Whats your 11 to give us the best chance of survival - your allowed 3 subs as well!

My starting 11.
The defenders for me is the hardest part.. Not sure about the backs.

Marshall

.... - Caulker - Cala - ....

Noone - Medel - Mutch - Daehli

Campbell
Berget

This is as of february 15th. It might change depending on player forms and perfomances :)

I know we are improving but I don't quite think we are ready to only play 10 players ;)

For what its worth
------------------ Marshall-----------------

Mcnaughton/ Fabio---caulker---Cala ----John

---------------------medel------------------

Noone------mutch-------daehli-----zaha

-------------------Campbell-----------------

Bench would include Ekrem Bellamy and Jones

Whatever .... I think we need to stick to playing pretty much the same defensive unit and only 13 or 14 players for the rest of the season

The only players we can rely on are Marshall, Caulker, Noone and Campbell - the rest are inconsistent, lazy or poor!

Big problem being full backs ....we aint got any!!!

Also thw team depends on who were playing

Marshall
KTC
Caulker
Turner
Fabio
Eikrem
Medel
Mutch
Daehli
Noone
Campbell

But, Cala for Turner against more mobile strikers

Gunnarsson for Eikrem/Daehli when more defence needed

Jones and Campbell to interplay by substitution

Zaha and Noone to interplay by substitution

Bellamy to play a part off bench

Sadly, I dont think we have the quality to play 4-4-2 and it allows the opposition to boss us in midfield
