Cardiff City midfield star Gary Medel looks set to miss 'several weeks' after scan
Sunday 16th Feb 2014

After being replaced by Don Cowie at half time in yesterday's FA Cup defeat to Wigan, Gary Medel has posted a picture of him having a scan on a social networking site.

Cardiff City have been dealt another blow as one of their star players has revealed he will be out for several weeks after sustaining a tear during yesterday's FA Cup round five defeat against Wigan Athletic yesterday.

The Chilean international didn't re-appear for the second half after hobbling off at half time of the Cardiff City Stadium clash and was replaced by Don Cowie.

Medel posted the scan picture on his Instagram site with the caption, in Spanish suggesting that he has suffered a tear and will be out for several weeks but the man the fans call 'El Pitbull' adds: "I hope to recover as quickly as possible."

15th Feb Sat 2014.

Gary Medel was injured during the Cardiff City v Wigan Athletic FA Cup game and reports are that he will be now out for a number of weeks.

I'm writing this slowly because I know you can't read very fast.........
"Anker" there is no such word
So I asked did he mean "anchor"
Or had he spelt it correctly, but missed the "w" off the front w + anker = wanker. See, it's a play on words. Clever, eh?

..........and you call me a thick c*nt! Couldn't make it up, could you?

Well that's solved it then! You're conceding so many goals because you have barrels instead of defenders! It all makes sense now!

Agreed, although Cowie done a good enough job today, Medel is so vital to our team, we are losing all our best players when we need them the most.

Bollocks - passing 5 yards sideways does not make Medel a good player - our version of Britton ( another vastly overrated player! )

Medel does the basics very well IMO - yes, he might pass sideways now and again but he rarely makes mistakes - doesn't make clearances to the other team (KTC), doesn't hoof it out needlessly (Turner) - he fights for the ball and wins it more often than not. I wish he'd come out of his shell a bit more and be more aggressive if anything...

That's all we need! Could Medel being injured means that we f..ked?

This was also another worry for me as the season progressed that malky kept paying the same 11 week in week out and you can't do that for a full season in any league. Maybe this is why the team are starting to look tired. Noone looks like he's carrying on injury, Mutch injured. We haven't really had the quality of squad to rest key players as every game for us has been a big game in this very tough league. Maybe Eikrem to take his place with a bit more creativity???

With him and Mutch out I can't see us creating anything, just gets worse

Thank you!! Sums up my thoughts, Malky's tactics have not only worn the players out in terms of conditioning but making them more prone to injuries

I thought you knew Cardiff's players better than this. Medel is primarily a ball winner and defense-minded player. In fact, his passes have been poor in the last few games.

huh? we are to blame Malky for current injuries  who was Darren Anderton's coach at Spurs then cos he must of been one hell of a taskmaster. I went to the dentist 3 months ago, do I blame my dentist for my tooth-ache?? Pure comedy :notworthy:

The conditioning of players were awful under Malky, for example playing Campbell in a f*cking TARGET MAN role when we had Helguson and Gestede in our promotion winning season kept him out for a few weeks if I'm not mistaken.

playing Campbell as a target-man is a pure tactical decision and nothing to do with conditioning. Campbell can play that role in the Championship no probs and proved he can. Players get injured through err playing football??

And without him we seem to spend 90% of the time defending. With Gary in the team it strengthens us up a bit so we can attack and create more. Those two are crucial to our team

Blaming Malky for Medel's injury when he's been gone for 2 months??? f*cking hell, you couldn't make it up. Sometimes I think Vincent Tan has a few accounts on here.

I recall Gary Neville, whose opinions I am beginning to respect, said very early on in the season, possibly as early as the Man City victory, that we would not be able to maintain that style of play at that level of intensity to the end of the season. Having witnessed recent displays I am thinking that he knew what he was talking about.

Isn't Mutch back for Hull? Hopefully back for then or the next game for sure.

Positive news on Medel.

I'd be more concerned if David Marshall got injured if i was you.I got talking to a Cardiff season ticket holder yesterday and he told me that Medel has been pretty useless for weeks. It might not be a bad thing for you him being out.

Your spot on - Marshall would be our biggest lost .

big loss defensively no doubt about that, but it's goals we need for survival so maybe it might give the team a more attacking balance as it is we are at the shit or bust stage of the season especially at home.
