The Bluebirds were beaten in front of their own fans after another largely disappointing display
Dejected Fraizer Campbell sums it all up
Cardiff City's hopes of an FA Cup run were blown apart in front of their own supporters as Championship side Wigan compounded Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's problems in the Welsh capital.
Ben Watson's powerful drive sealed the victory for the visitors after Fraizer Campbell had levelled things up following Chris McCann's opener.
All three goals came in the first-half, with Cardiff unable to apply the expected pressure in the second period as Uwe Rosler's men saw out the match with relative ease.
Norwegian youngster Mats Moller Daehli was one of few bright spots for Solskjaer as he produced a lively, effective display that promised much for the future.
Solskjaer's other January Norwegian signings, Magnus Eikrem and Jo Enge Berget, who both started, were insignificant contributors by comparison.

Further trouble for Cardiff City manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as Wigan Athletic kept alive their dream of successfully defending the FA Cup.
First-half goals from Chris McCann and last year’s Cup final hero Ben Watson provided the visitors with a safe passage into the last eight.
Cardiff equalised McCann’s early strike, thanks to Fraizer Campbell’s eighth goal of the season, but the only genuine consolation for Solskjaer was the sublime performance of 18-year-old Norwegian Matts Moeller Daehli.
Solskjaer made five changes from the side that drew with Aston Villa in the league in midweek with the Norwegians Daehli, Joe Inge Berget and the former Seville central defender Juan Cala all handed a first start.
Unfortunately, it was another Norwegian, Magnus Wollf Eikrem, who was under the spotlight in the 18th minute as the holders took the lead. Having lost out on the edge of his own penalty area, the former Manchester United youngster could only watch as Jordi Gomez crossed for Chris McCann to convert at the far post.
By now, Cardiff were starting to show the kind of anxiety that has led to their Premier League demise. Still, they soldiered on against the tide and finally got the slice of good fortune that Solskjaer has been waiting for.
Wilfried Zaha worked his way into the penalty area, courtesy of some neat and tidy footwork from the impressive Daehli and after one or two favourable ricochets, Campbell struck from eight yards to bring Cardiff level.
Daehli was starting to show the kind of prowess that Solskjaer had spoken about prior to the 18-year-old’s arrival in south Wales. Confident in possession and eager to support his front two, the youngster was a constant thorn.
Still, there was little the young Norwegian could do about Wigan’s second – a 25 yard drive from Watson. Juan Cala fouled Marc-Antonie Fortune, five minutes before the interval, and up stepped Watson to convert a Gomez assist from the ensuing free kick.
Daehli shot inches wide in the first minute of the second half and when Craig Noone arrived, as a 61st minute substitute, the pressure was all Wigan’s. However, the visitors held on and deservedly took their place in the last eight. What price a repeat?

I think it was a smart move by OGS to rest a few players, and give his new signings a game, remember, Berget and Cala has never played, and isn't used to the english way. Eikrem I thought did alright, nothing special sadly. Dæhli was amazing, really loved his play today. Zaha is still missing the end product, but that's where Noone shines, he was unlucky not to score I thought.

Not many positives today. We don't seem to be playing as a team and there was a lot of backward passing and over hit balls. We really need to be upping our game next week. We dud not create a great deal today and gave another sloppy goal away.
One bright shining light was Daehli's performance and Cala had a decent first game.

Let's be honest, in some ways it's better just to lose this and get it off the table than to draw it... Time to move on to Hull...

I quite enjoyed our performance, apart from the lack of cutting edge. That said, I was furious with Taylor in the first half - didn't look up to it at all. Zaha wasn't much better either...more concerned with doing step-overs than actually whipping the bloody ball in.
For me, the disappointing thing about today was the fans. I've not jumped on the bandwagon complaining about the fans at the stadium, but today pissed me off. We're in a relegation scrap, lacking confidence, and just lost in the cup against a team a league lower, so what do the fans do? Boo the f*cking team off the pitch. I couldn't believe what I was hearing, and somewhat surprising myself, I gave some of the guys booing a right mouthful
Yes, we're doing things as a team that can piss us all off, but jesus christ, booing them off the pitch at this point in the season if suicide. Honestly, the people booing can go f**k themselves. I'm still f*cking furious about it.
