Sam Hammam defends Simon Lim Statement...

Fri Feb 14, 2014 8:21 am

Bluebirds chief executive Simon Lim criticised Mackay's transfer policy, claiming it had cost the club millions.

The League Managers' Association (LMA) defended Mackay, saying all transfers went through Lim.

But Hammam says: "Malky Mackay is not taking responsibility for some of the things that have happened."

He said some of the Scot's summer signings had been "very poor indeed".

"Deep down inside himself he knows that," said Hammam.

Thats going to do great for the team, critising all the players who Malky signed this summer...

The Simon Lim & the Cardiff board must accept all responsibility for the loss on Cornelius as it was signed off by Lim & the board made the decision to sell Cornlelius for a huge loss rather than loan him out.

Really not happy with the way my club is run - seems that Tan isnt the only Clown in our club

If we blame the board for the flops we must praise them for the good players signed.

Not really.

The board basically accept the judgement of the player from the manager. They then approve the fee. It Acorn was signed up for say £2 million he would still be here. However the board agreed the fee and the buck stops with them. To come back and blame Malky and gang tells me they don't like taking responsibility.

.. Not blaiming them for the 'flop'

Im blaming them for makuing a huge loss on him- the players ability has nothing to do with it

I still dont understand how anyone can be labelled a flop after 113 mins of football which was mainly 10 min runouts at the end of a game

He played 3 full 90 mins and was made to look a tw*t by Healy, he managed 1 scuffed goal, pathetic.

Watch him against Forest Green and Accreton and I saw enough there to know it was going to end in tears. Sometimes that is all you need.

I am not going to accept that he can be so easily dismissed after such little playtime - regardless of what people say he looked like

He was Danish Player of the Year, Top Goal Scorer in his league at 20 years old, Danish International who has scored for his contry.

He was one for the future and although he obviously did nothing for us this season - it was a stupid idea to sell him and make such a huge loss.

We made less of a loss compared with if we kept him. £180k per month to do what exactly, sit in the DVP team????

He never criticised all the players we signed in the summer.

Nobody was going to take cornelious on loan he was shit an on 45k a week.

An if they did loan him out an he played shit then nobody else would ever take him and we'd be stuck with him.

Well all indications show that he does have a lot of potential and will improve as time goes on - my bet is that given a spell in english lower league such as Champ/Div 1 he would adjust to the style of play and improve dramatically

He was endorsed by so many clubs, managers pundits (including OGS in 2012) to do well!It seems stupid not to be patient and wait it out.

Look at Bale who was almost sold to birmingham for £2mil because everyone thought he was rubbish & Ramsey who many people wrote off when he came back from injury - these and so many more examples show that patience often brings good results from players

Losing those millions is down to the Board and Lim as they did not have the patience to keep Cornelius and see if he would develop as a player and it seems they got rid of him to try and rubbish Malkys name

Totally different positions the players you have mentioned. Acorn was a target man, he was bullied off the ball, not very quick and had the touch of an elephant.........he showed 0 ability when here. He was the highest earner at our club. They sold him while others thought he was ok. At least we got something back rather than 12 months down the line and spending over £1m more on wages and recouping nothing. Damage limitation!!

I know they are different positions - but its the same principle

I udnerstand what you are saying with damage limitation, but i think we will have to agree to disagree here! I dont think either of us is going to budge

Firstly I am more than happy to go on record as saying that Malky was, and will probably remain, the best manager we have had in a long time. But, and this is a big but, I do understand where the statement of Simon Lim is coming from.

In any organisation you have various levels and you employ people to make recommendations and manage those departments.

Iain Moody reported directly to Malky and between them they made the recommendation of certain signings to the board. I doubt it was in Simon Lims capacity to scout the player himself, as that is what he employed people to do, he merely ensured that suitable finances were in place to cover recommendations.

If the scouting was suspect then there must have been a question as to whether the board felt comfortable with sanctioning further recommendations.

In fairness to Cornelius I do think he was unlucky. I was at the Accrington game taking photos for the club. It was not the best pitch and he was unlucky to suffer the injury he did. Had he not suffered that injury, who knows, he might have played regularly and Malky still been our manager??

BTW... Whilst I take photos for the club these views are my own.
