Still can't pick who is going down! Really close!

Wed Feb 12, 2014 4:03 pm

I can't see how anyone can say we are going down for sure.

I think it's wide open.

Everyone thought West Ham was done for a few weeks ago and Sunderland and Palace were dead and buried.

2-3 results and the table will look very different.

I've never seen it this close in the Prem before.

Anybody who has 28 points or less at the moment imo will fight until the last 2 games . It will be really close .we have as much chance as anybody especially with our fixtures .it will look a lot clearer middle of March then it's a straight shootout .I think it will be the lowest points tally ever to stay up probably about 33 imo

I don't think you will need to hit the magic 40 to stay up.

Worrying Signs For Cardiff City’s Chances of Avoiding Relegation
Posted on February 12, 2014 by Chris Winterburn

Cardiff City came away from yet another home fixture last night with a solitary point following a 0-0 draw with Aston Villa. Since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over in early January, the form of the Welsh club has been indifferent at best with defeats coming at Manchester United and fierce rivals Swansea whilst there have been positive results at the Cardiff City Stadium.
Yesterday evening, for the first half, Cardiff City outplayed the visitors with Wilfried Zaha and Craig Noone proving a handful on either flank whilst Fraizer Campbell looked to force the Villa backline further back with great work off the ball. Despite significant pressure, the goal never came, and this is becoming an increasingly worrying trend for Solskjaer’s Cardiff as it was back in the 2010-2011 campaign where Blackpool faltered after a good opening six months, which saw them relegated back into the Championship after just one season.
There are far more similarities between Cardiff currently and the 2010-2011 Blackpool side led by Ian Holloway than I expect supporters would care to admit, through fear of relegation or even jinxing the club ahead of the final months of the campaign. Both teams attempt to play soccer in a positive, attacking manner. It was often seen that Blackpool could be rip-roaringly exciting going forward but embarrassingly slack at the back during their most recent spell in England’s top flight and I am starting to see that with Cardiff.
Solskjaer has implemented an impressive change to the team dynamic in that ball retention is imperative. Gary Medel slots into the holding midfield role and is integral to Cardiff’s ball retention within their own half and the Chilean is entrusted with the task of manoeuvring the ball to the wider areas in the hope of sparking an attacking move. Cardiff, when in possession, are exciting to watch with Zaha’s unpredictability on the left coupled with Craig Noone’s streamlined incisiveness proving to be a nightmare for defenders. However the final bit of craft or even in some cases luck in the final third is not forthcoming.
Kenwyne Jones has talent, and a physical prowess to boot but he has never been a prolific Premier League goalscorer who will put away his first chance. And in a team fighting relegation, that chance can possibly be the only chance of a match. Meanwhile, Campbell works incredibly hard off the ball but as a result is seldom in good goalscoring positions as he pressures the defenders into mistakes. This is very reminiscent of Blackpool’s struggles in the second half of the 2010-2011 season and in the end it is goals that keep you in the division.

3 from:
Fulham - bottom if the league however spent a lot of money in January and it depends whether their new players have enough quality to keep them up. The last minute draw at old Trafford will give then plenty of confidence.
Us- Currently one of the favourites to go down but have one if the easier run ins. However we tend not to do well in out 'must-win' games.
Sunderland- The cup could prove to be a distraction for them. The new manager effects may have worn off as they fell to a 2-0 home loss to Hull on Saturday albeit with 10 men.
Crystal Palace - they have got a great manager in Tomy Pulis who himself has never been relegated, however there squad is filled with good championship players and have one of the hardest run ins which may see them end up in the relegation zone which they have been in each of their Premier League campaigns so one stat will have to give.
West Brom - They have earned what could be crucial home draws against Everton, Liverpool and Chelsea in Pepe Mels first few games but this is along with losses away at Aston Villa and Crystal Palace so they are still firmly in the race for survival.
Norwich- Even though impressing in their visit to the CCS they still came away with nothing as they did from Upton Park last night thanks to 2 late goals, nothing is going for them and with there last 4 games against the giants then they need to pick up points fast.
There is often a surprise team, Hull have some difficult fixtures and if Cardiff beat them a week Saturday then just 2 points would separate the teams. Aston villa are still not out of it and could slide down the table with a few bad results. Stoke could also be drawn into it as they have rode their luck in recent weeks and goals could be an issue.

Still plenty to play for, Keep the Faith!

Fulham - too many chiefs not enough Indians
West Brom - Foreign manager with no knowhow of the Premier League and that will count
Hull or Norwich - both have really tough run - ins and managers who are losers :laughing6:

Think us, Sunderland and Stoke will fight out 14th, 15th and 16th - if you had to push me I would say 16th for us. keep the faith lads :ayatollah:
