Casual Observations pt.2

Wed Feb 12, 2014 6:38 am

Just a collection of my random thoughts from today's game and the game coming up.

Positives
-Came out very aggresive and on the front foot for 45 min
-Created a lot of chances in the first half - seemed like it was just a matter of time before we snuck one in
-Eikrem played well coming in for Mutch
-Turner showed up big time getting him another start in the next EPL game over Cala imo, as long as he's fit to play

Neutrals
-Daehli seemed to have a very rough start, but started to settle into the end of the game
-Forced to sub early and couldn't sub late with Turner looking like he had a knock

Negatives
-Zaha and Noone both looked like they were running on E the 2nd half
-Although Eikrem played very well, after Mutch went out it seemed like the team throttled down.
-Jones still seems to be content Jogging around - would expect OGS to set him straight since I don't get the feeling he cares for anything less than a maximum effort from all of his players

Overall
-I still have a positive outlook on the table, we may just need a boost (like a win over Wigan) that will propel us back into finding the net for Hull at Home.

Wigan
-Would like to see all three Norwegians out playing - same with Fabio and Cala
-Would expect another Win
-Really feel these games are actually very important - winning breeds winning mentality, as well as getting the new players match fit and helps with the overall teamwork which is still somewhat lacking with some of the loss of possession being freely given away just due to not playing with everyone for a while.

Anyways - onwards and upwards :)

Also - as much as people were crying for OGS' head for not playing Mutch @ Swansea... I have a feeling the same people would be even MORE outraged if he ended up playing him and got hurt like he did today.

Can't win with some people :P

A good positive, post! Another positive in y opinion was how effective we looked when we passed the ball with a high tempo. We looked very threatening when we got the ball to our two wide players early and gave them the opportunity to attack the Villa defence. Unfortunately, in the second half Zaha ran out of steam and we failed to get he ball to Noone. Delphi also gave great support to Barnard to nullify Noone' s threat. Delphi got away with a lot, Foy should have been stronger with him.

Lot to agree with, Eikrem is a different mould to Mutch but fairplay he came on and did a good job. :ayatollah:
