Really happy with that result ! Positives

Tue Feb 11, 2014 9:49 pm

We gained a point on nearly all of our rivals
We kept a clean sheet
We played good attacking football and created chances
We finally saw a return to form of Ben Turner (big plus)
We for the most part outplayed probably the best team in our mini division
We showed we are more than capable of staying up
We showed we have good strength in depth to deal with injurys
We undoubtably have one of the best 5 keepers in the league

WE LOOKED LIKE A TEAM UNITED AND CONFIDENT AGAIN :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

FULL OF HOPE AGAIN NOW BRING ON THE NEXT GAME IF WE GO DOWN WE WILL GO DOWN FIGHTING

Yeah, that could be a crucial point. We need to beat Hull though, we really do.

I'm confident we can get points away from home though. Except for the Jacks, we've been better away from home since OGS took over and I think we could get some crucial away points on the board.

I think we at last have the basis of a good team. Pity its taken so long to finally get there but I think if we stick with the bulk of players who played tonight we might well save our season. Very impressed with Eikrem, I think hes gonna be important for us

I had as down for a lose last night......so a point was good in my eyes....villa have a good away record compared to a lot in the league, look at the way they went at liverpool a few weeks ago.

thought we played some nice football, passing and movement was excellent at times.....to be clapped off at half time being at 0-0 proves my point. Yes Marshall saved us at the end, but with some luck in the first have we could have scored 2 or 3 ....as for penalties will we ever get one

west brom, norwich and fulham are all going to struggle from now in.....

Yes some great football last night, but why for only 40 minutes?

Turner,Noone,Campbell,Mutch and Marshall all outstanding last night

David Marshall saved the day again.

Kenwyn Jones, lazy and needs a rocket up his arse.

Ole has to now stick to the same team as you say, no more swopping and changing, 18 players he has used so far, brought 7 new players in, surely after 8 games in charge Ole can finally see who is first 11 should be. Last night we played our best football so far under him, but only for 40 minutes.

Time for no more messing about and lets go for the wins

To be honest Annis come the end of the season if we stay up or not we will all reflect and point the finger at the strike force. Answers are usually very simple in life and to me its very clear we failed to find that striker.

Because Villa are a good premiership team regardless of their position at the moment and have some excellent players.

There were loads of positives last night.

Just wish we wouldnt panic so much when we have the ball, you could see the difference between us and Villa & most teams we play in the league. They look so much more comfortable on the ball.

Perhaps thats just down to experience.

agree with Annis. Cardiff played well in the first half, but poor in the second. It's remind me when Ole managed Molde. Sometimes Molde had a bad game in the first half, and better in the second or the reverse. Just have to meet the consistent performance, it will be going better.

Marshall, another great performance. You're very lucky that he extends his contract at Cardiff. Hopefully it brings good mood in the squad until the last season.

But for me, the most surprised me is Turner's performance. Really really good! can't believe that he is the one who so brittle in derby match and bounce back so quickly in Villa's match.

Good luck for FA Cup match! :ole:

Im afraid I cant be happy with that result regardless of how well we played for the first 40 mins

Its two points dropped not one point gained and it may cost us dearly at the end of the season

They had 2 big chances where Marshall was called into action, had 5 on target didn't they? Only worked Marshall properly once.

Positive is we didn't concede and the defence looked okay and I felt on times we gave Benteke to much room and time to hold the ball up.

Played well on times, glimpses of the Football we want to play coming in.. should of made the crosses count.

Campbell was breaking in between the defenders ,unlucky not to score.

Villa have a lot of pace and to draw v them with their form is one thing but stopping them from scoring was better.

They hoof worse than us.

It was two points dropped, Villa are gabbage & they're the kind of team you've got to take points from, time is running out & with the last 4 games looking really tough we can't afford to keep dropping points at home.

Some brilliant posts above and agree totally with the OP.

Totally agree with the post quoted, but I think one of the reasons that we lost being comfortable on the ball, was when a few mistakes occurred there was a collective (nowhere near everyone) groan that can be heard by the players. the tension from fans started to build as we played the best we have under OGS, but without finding the net and I believe that started getting to our players.

It looks to me, that there are a lot of nervous fans and some of our players who are also apprehensive.

The transition from Malky's ultra team defensive style to Ole's more attacking style has resulted in some poor and indecisive performances from many players, units leading to poor communications between players.

Last night there was a hell of a lot more good communications, the shape and formation was largely excellent, though there are still areas to learn to be much more effective.

The main concern for me was Zaha. Every time he made a mistake, he whinged and moaned at other players. He was very disruptive. Everyone makes mistakes, no one does it on purpose, so just accept it, put your hand up and learn from it.

Really looking forward to the next game and let's spread the word, let's enjoy the ride and 100% get behind the team no matter what happens in a game.

It's still too early to be thinking of relegation, just a matter of keeping focussed on the next game and getting something out of it, hopefully a win.

The team and fans who can stay in the moment will have more success in games, than those who heap massive pressure on themselves.
