Caulker Says " If we win our 7 Homes games we will stay up "

BBC Tuesday 11th Feb 2014.

Captain Steven Caulker says Cardiff City will avoid relegation if they win their seven remaining home games, starting against Aston Villa.
Cardiff are second from bottom after their 3-0 defeat at Swansea.
With only seven points separating 11 teams, defender Caulker believes Cardiff can climb out of trouble.
"We're in a dogfight now, but it's the games against teams like Aston Villa that we'll be looking to get three points from," said Caulker.

" Cardiff's remaining home games "

Tue, 11 Feb: Aston Villa

Sat, 22 Feb: Hull City

Sat, 8 March: Fulham

Sat, 22 March: Liverpool

Sat, 5 April: Crystal Palace

Sat 19 April: Stoke City

Sat, 11 May: Chelsea

"I'd like to make a plea now to our fans to get behind us as they have done all season and really make [Cardiff City Stadium] a difficult place to come.
"Hopefully if we can win seven of our last 13 - all being at home - then we'll remain in the Premier League."
Five of the Bluebirds' seven remaining home games are against clubs in the bottom 11, with the visits of Liverpool and Chelsea the exceptions.
However, the 22-year-old England international, says they have to put an "unacceptable" performance against Swansea behind them quickly.
"We have to hold our hands up - that was unacceptable," admitted Caulker, who spent a season on loan at Swansea before joining Cardiff from Tottenham Hotspur for £8m in 2013.
"We were well beaten in a derby against a team that's in and around us [in the table] and we'd like to perform better but there's no excuses.
"We'll go again on Tuesday night and hopefully get three points."
Cardiff have lost four out of five Premier League games since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over as manager from Malky Mackay at the start of January.
The former Manchester United striker made seven signings during the January transfer window and Caulker thinks it was inevitable that new players and a new manager would take time to bed in.
"Of course it takes a little while for the boys to settle in and a new manager to get across his ideas," he added.
"But I think he's done that now. We're all on the same page, [have the] same understanding and from now on there's most definitely no excuses.
"We want to play attacking football, the manager made that clear when he came in and, bit-by-bit, we're getting used to it and from now on there's no excuses - it's now or never."

There is more chance of David Marshall scoring a hat-trick than City winning 7 home games.

No reason to say we can't win 5, Liverpool and Chelsea might have to be written off as losses. All in all though we should be looking to pick up maximum points in every game including Away games.

I'd take 5 wins now and risk it.

A couple of draws and we'd be sorted.

I honestly believe we need 6 wins or 5 wins and 3 draws to stay up, anything less and we are down.

That's exactly how I see it 1927 with maybe a draw tonight. We will get the occasional unexpected few pounts away...w brom etc. Our points total will be mid-late 30's. Going to be tight at the end.

Steven would better advised on taking one game at a time and not increase the pressure on each game.

We saw what happened with the pressure of expectation with the Swansea game. Fans and players were totally devastated instead going into the game with a well structured game plan (which didn't seem to happen), with fans being open minded about performance and result expectations and getting 100% behind our team.

It is our job to try to silence the opposition fans and put off any individual players where appropriate.

Instead some of our fans are turning on our players, booing them and undermining their confidence, focussing on every mistake. How would we feel if our employers or customers did that to us in our work ?

No Cardiff City player goes out of his way to play badly, quite the opposite.

IF we can support our team when they are at the lowest (which is the case at present), then we may be able to help them out of this run of form.

Steven, his team mates and OGS need to focus on all the players playing better as individuals, units and as a whole team.

Better communications, co-ordinated and supported play with players knowing their roles and responsibilities.

look at defence first and build up effectively from there.

We keep our shape and formation against the top teams, perform really well but just don't quite have the skills and ability to get the results we would like.

Against Chelsea, we were doing really well until the Eto'o goal and in the second half Chelsea allowed us to come onto them. This created more space to counter and create better chances than when we focused more on team defence.

I am in no way suggesting all out team defence like Malky set up, but the transition from that style of play to OGS's very attacking style appears too much for our team to accommodate.

OGS needs to adapt and adapt very quickly and be flexible enough to understand that playing a more loose style of play in the games against West Ham, Norwich and Swansea will result in few wins at this level, this stage of the season and there is too little time for the sweeping transition to his style of play.

The off season is the best time to bring in his true style of play, but in the immediate future he has to do tactically what is absolutely necessary to give us the best opportunity of getting something from each game.

We need another 15 points to stay up, maybe 16 because of our poor goal diff.
4 wins and 3/4 draws when we are under immence pressure. If the players can pull this off it will be a bigger achievement than promotion last season. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:
