Casual Observations

Mon Feb 10, 2014 6:58 am

First I'll start off with a question - would you rather have a better chance at winning the derby or a better chance at winning the next two home games?

I think if you answer that a better chance at winning the next two homegames is more important, some of the lineup decisions make more sense - it's not a popular decision, but at the end of the season as long as we stay up, I doubt anyone will bring up this game.

Of course it's a risk, but everything is at this stage. It seemed like we lost the ball quite a bit just due to lack of team cohesion with the new faces involved. I think that will be the biggest factor going forward - it's a lot easier to play defense when you know your offense and vice versa. Not sure there is a way to speed that process up; other than just time.

Anyways I'm still positive we can fight out of this as I think we have the talent to do so - just wanted to toss a few of these things out there since it seems to be very extreme reactions when we Win / Lose.

Looking forward to Tuesday :) onward and upward!

I totally agree, 5 Ole's first seven games have been away from home. I believe he has pinned his hopes on gaining enough points from home games in the first couple of months of his tenure to secure safety. It is a very risky strategy, but his fast tempo, attacking strategy is more likely to be successful at home. He knows the team need their collective confidence boosted. Tomorrow night is a very important occasion, hopefully the boys can get tbe job done.

So he was willing to sacrifice a derby game and a potential double and valuable 3 points over a relegation rival against a team bottom of the form league with a rooky manager, in the hope it gets you 3 points in a midweek game against a relegation rival. Gutted we didn't get in first for ogs the lads a genius! !

If you're asking if I think that the home game on Tuesday is more important than the derby - I'll have to say absolutely.

I don't think he just tossed out a team that didn't stand a chance (we looked competitive up until that 2nd goal).

But increasing your chances by resting some key players to go full out on Tuesday is a good move; I guess we'll wait and see if it pays dividends though.
