Quite an interesting little insight to his time here !
Stoke's Peter Odemwingie is feeling happy and confident once again after putting an ill-fated spell at Cardiff behind him.
Odemwingie joined the Bluebirds in the summer after three years at West Brom but the move did not work out and he left the club in January as part of a swap deal with Kenwyne Jones.
The deal gave both the chance of a fresh start and it is one Odemwingie is enjoying, highlighted by his celebrations after his first Stoke goal in Saturday's 2-2 draw at Southampton.
"Very often I was pulled out of games," said the 32-year-old of his time in south Wales.
"I had a poor pre-season and I needed the full 90 minutes to open up and get my fitness back.
"It was a similar situation all the time: the team not doing too well, I would be the first to be pulled off and those things no player can be happy with.
"It became too often and it affected my game and confidence but now I am happy. I can be playing and doing well for the team.
"Three games so far, three 90 minutes.
"I have been in the game a lot of years and I know where I can do well and I saw this team has the quality of players that will make me better.
"There were games in Cardiff when I had to be a target man, backing into players. It is not my game.
"I have never been so strong physically to do that. I would say I was not used in my best way I could have been."
Odemwingie is enjoying playing off Peter Crouch and is hopeful that Mark Hughes' side, having followed up the 2-1 win against Manchester United with a point at St Mary's, can kick on up the table.
"In the dressing room we want the top half and hopefully we can achieve that," he said, with the Potters 13th ahead of Wednesday's match with Swansea.
"The home results are good but away they were not so good.
"For that to happen you have to win a few away and draw a few.
"Hopefully we can get that towards the end of the season and keep the home
form going."

Dig at Malky there, oooooh

He's got a fair point about how he was being wasted as a target man. Same could be said for Campbell too.
But, he fails to mention how his attitude was wrong from day one. Selfish on the ball, constantly giving it away, no work rate. The guy was an awful signing right from the beginning, and another one from Malky that just made no sense given the way he was setting us up to play.
Jones might drop in and out of games at times, but the positives of having him in the team are ten times better than having Odemwingie, in my opinion.

he is right, yes kwest, is attitude was poor, and he wasnt putting in 100% effort all the time, however constantly being played in a position he neither likes nor does well in must have taken its toll.

He was being played out of position at WBA too, and gave that as a reason for why he wanted to leave the club. You'd think he would have got some assurances off us about where he was going to play, else why sign for us? So either Malky misled him, or he's a plonker for not getting some promises off Malky before signing.

perhaps. Maybe we will never know, maybe the intention was him and cornilius would play up front together, maybe he was bought last minute when Malky realised Corneilius wouldnt be up to it and then didnt know what to do with Odemwinge.
its a shame, because he has a consistantly good premier league record, and you dont get that if you are shit.

I believe your latter comment regarding PO being a late "quick fix" for the failed AC to be the real reason he was signed. A very expensive panic buy at best, & both no longer with our club.

He was right in that he was played as a target man - he isnt that sort of player. I also agree thats why he got pulled off as he wasnt doing what was asked of him

PETER ODEMWINGIE: The Premier League table is so tight, as a player you find that very stressful... But I like my new boss at Stoke, especially his team talks
I was frustrated with the football at Cardiff, it was effective for the Championship
But I'm looking forward to seeing my old mates when we play in April
When I arrived at Stoke I was suffering cramps because I'd not been playing the full 90 minutes
I've still got a house in the Midlands - I've rented it to a player on loan there

Nigeria striker Peter Odemwingie joined Stoke three days before the transfer window shut in a player-exchange deal which saw Kenwyne Jones head the other way to Cardiff. He scored his first goal for the Potters, his third Premier League club, in last weekend's 2-2 draw with Southampton. Before you read his second Footballers' Football Column, check out his video…

now there is a suprise............Malky not playing to players strengths.........

He is spot on, it was madness playing him as the lone striker the way Malky did, dont really know why he signed him if he didnt know how to use him.

Panic buying after dragging his feet at the beginning of the window, but hey the three weeks spent chasing Tom Ince really paid off..
