Solskjaer believes Bellamy has plenty of football left in him
Cardiff boss Solskjaer insists the 34-year-old can carry on.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is desperate to stop Cardiff forward Craig Bellamy hanging up his boots this summer, reports Matt Lloyd in the Sunday People.
The veteran striker became the first player to score for seven Premier League teams last week with his first goal for the Bluebirds in the top flight.
He played the full 90 minutes of the derby against Swansea yesterday, hitting the bar in the 3-0 defeat.
But he is out of contract at the end of the season and has yet to commit his future beyond then.
But Cardiff boss Solskjaer insists the 34-year-old can carry on.
He said: “Craig can definitely go on beyond this season.
“His body is in good shape, there’s no fat on him and he looks after himself – so it’s all about how long he wants to play football.
He knows when he needs a rest. I was like that, the older you get you know what you need.”
Keeper David Marshall signed a new four-year contract, and hopes former Liverpool and Manchester City star Bellamy will follow.
“Having players like Bellamy and Marshall – with their experience – is massive,” he added.
“We have loads of young talented players, but can’t expect them to be the leaders.
That’s where Bellers, David and Kenwyne Jones come in. We need them.”
Ex-Cardiff boss Malky Mackay has urged fans to maintain their struggle against the club’s hierarchy.
He has been invited the supporters’ trust to become a life member, and said: “Please don’t give up on trying to do the right thing for the club. I’m gutted that I’m not still there.”

Why on earth would anyone want Bellend to play another season is beyond me. Playing on reputation this year

I've no doubt that he had an influence over team selection yesterday , following his comments last week.
Whilst I also disagreed with the boos aimed at Whitts , he should have in no way have started yesterday.
Bellamy is coming to the end of his career and simply can't do it on the field any more , not on a consistent basis.
Any manager with experience would recognise this straight away and f**k him off at the earliest opportunity.
He's at the stage where he's a wanna be manager and in
My opinion should go and learn the ropes at a lower level and work his way up!
I might be wrong but seriously believe he's a bad influence and should be got rid of ASAP !
