When Ole first came it was mentioned that he was a fan (just like his mentor AF) of player rotation.
I cannot think of any other reason for yesterday's team selection. When I saw that Mutch, Noone and Campbell were on the bench my heart sank. Kimbo was too lightweight for what was always going to be a blood and thunder game. Maybe a late sub but certainly no starter. Bellers and Gary showed some fight and desire, but there was no pressing and I can't remember seeing us lose as many 50/50 challenges.
Would have liked to have seen Daehli control the centre of the park and give that little shit Britton something to think about.
Cala is a puzzling one. He's been playing so he's fit, yet can't dislodge Turner? Feel a little sorry for big Ben as our midfield yet again didn't give him an outlet, but time after time hoof and giving away possession just cannot continue.
For what it's worth...

How can you say Brayford when you have never seen him in the premier league.
Mutch isn't a presser, nor is noone, Saha or Daelhli.
Our only player genuinely capable of that role is Cowie....And won't the boo boys love that.
Wonder why Ole gave him a 3 year extension ?

"Yet he can't dislodge Turner" ...... ?
He only arrived a few days ago. As much as I think Turner should be brought out of the team, the only real thing I agree with yesterday's team was that Cala wasn't thrown straight in.
Hopefully, we'll see him Tuesday as most of us have no idea what he's like.

I suggested Brayford after watching his MOTM performance for The Blades last week. He deserves his chance, especially as Fabio, KTC and McNaughton are not good enough.
This holding role that Gary plays is too big a job for him to do it alone. So yes perhaps Cowie along side him. However I firmly beleive our best hope with staying in this division rests on Mutch. His ability to actually go forward with the ball rather than sideways/backwards is invaluable to us. Disagree with you about the pressing though as he does stick his foot in.
Noone and Zaha are there to provide for Campbell. Daehli to control the ball, add composure and link midfield to attack. He can also score a few himself.
I believe we have to go out fighting and if necessary go down fighting. Yes we could pack the midfield with Whitts, Cowie, Gunnar and Gary and play anti football the Malky way. Passing it back and forth between Marshall and the back 6 (!) until we hoof it and give possession away again. I'd rather we didn't.

my thinking is that Kimbo and Whitts are better at keeping the ball than Noone and Mutch. Possession was always going to be limited so when we did get the ball OGS was probably thinking we need to hold onto it to create something. Can you imagine Noone, Zaha and Mutch away from home, they would surrender the ball too easily. In the end it didnt matter because Turner just gave it to them anyway

One reason for Whittingham's selection whuch is doing the rounds at the moment is that Ole was convinced by Bellamy that Whittingham should be picked so as a confidence booster after his reception on his withdrawal next week. I tend to believe this rumour because it offers the only possible reason for his inclusion yesterday. It also explains why he wasnt withdrawn.

If these players cannot play 1 game a week then they should not be playing. Rotating players is bollocks, players like terry and lampard never missed a game for yrs, you don't drop your best players unless their injured end of.

I agree Kimbo and whitts are better at keeping the ball but Kimbo was so weak, we needed to press the jacks high to stand a chance of scoring with the way the team was set up that wasn't going to happen. Hopefully Ole can still change things around there are plenty of games left to do sort it out
