Welsh QPR?

Sat Feb 08, 2014 10:56 pm

A few comments about your performance today.
Marshall didn't really have a lot to do in all honesty other than pick the ball out of the net three times.
I thought your back four today were appalling. Just like QPR last year, you've brought in a number of players who don't look up for any sort of fight. Surely someone must have looked at Fabio's performances at QPR last year and realised that he is most definitely suspect. Hauled off today for a guy who was so impressive he was sent out on loan earlier in the season. Caulker is ok but gets dragged out of position. Turner looks like a rabbit in the headlights most of the time and can't carry or distribute the ball. Declan John looks like he could be one for the future, but is out of his depth at the moment.
I can see why Kenwynne Jones has spent so much time on the bench at Stoke and Zaha is a one-trick pony who couldn't get into a Man Utd team ahead of Young and Nani. Interesting that today, all three substituted players were players brought into the club in January. Panic buying? Desperation?
Medel started well but seemed to run out of steam. Not surprising I suppose as he was carrying the rest of the midfield. Bellend was up for it, but he's playing on reputation now. Whittling ham and Kim were pretty much anonymous.
As QPR found out last year, throwing money at a problem doesn't always solve it.
Are Cardiff the Welsh QPR?

No. Previous manager just spent a shit load of money in our best chance of solidfying our spot. You can't judge our players just on one f*cking showing, they just weren't up for it.

Zaha wasn't even match fit, to say he's shit just because of that is moronic. Jones had no service. Stick to speaking about the jacks

But that's just the point isn't it? QPR did exactly the same last year, bringing in players who were not match fit. Samba cost £12 and hadn't played for ages because it was winter break in Russia etc etc.
I'm not judging players on one game. Fabio has been consistently awful every game I've seen him play in. Jones is not a PL player and his goal scoring record is testament to that. Zaha, as I said, could not get into a crap United side and was third choice behind the appalling Ashley Young and the equally bad Nani.
How can you not agree that you have problems in defence when a player who is five feet five inches scores with a header from the six yard line?

We didn't spend much this window. We've bought players who are good on paper but MAY not be up for the fight, but I can't say anything yet. Fabio wasn't even bad IMO. Jones is a risk but if we give him the right service. Zaha isn't in the United side due to personal preference, he wasn't Moyes signing. I'm not arguing about problems in defence, where does my post even argue that? We are all over the shop in defence, hopefully Cala cleans it up

Goals dont bother me. Points matter until last day of season. Our GD with you will be irrelevant.

We are far less organised under Ole and it exposes the weakness in our back four. Until Malky got sacked it was only the Southampton game where our back four looked as bad as they have done under Ole.

I don't think Fabio was a good buy, T-K, Brayford and even McNaughton seem better options although T-K has been poor defensively recently. I don't think the comparison with QPR is fair because I think they were full of players with no desire to fight where as under Malky these players were fighting.

One similarity with QPR is the money spent on transfers. The Norwegians, Fabio and Jones weren't expensive but we already know we have lost £7m on Cornelias. I would have thought Caulker would stay if we went down but we would probably lose at least £4m on Medel if he was to leave.

If we do go down I'd expect us to put up a decent fight for promotion if Ole gets his act together. Our squad may or may not be strong enough to stay in the premier league but looks good compared to most championship squads and the parachute money would make sure Tan doesn't need to put his hand in his pockets unless he wants to.

You can't honestly think we are better defensively and harder to break down under Ole?
